After weeks of rain on News Years Day the River Lyd finally burst it`s banks and flooded many acres of low lying farmland, this is just a small area near Sydenham in West Devon.

This is a depressing sight but a scene very well taken, showing the damage wrought to farmland through the recent storms and heavy rains which, of course, have affected your area of Britain a lot more than most.
The bright, feaureless sky is typical of this type of weather and there's nothing you could have done about that. But the light on the flooded field is perfect and we can clearly see the River Lyd in full spate (is that a word you use in your parts?), its muddied waters continuous with the floods in the field.
Lovely light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.
I hope your weather improves soon and that your home isn't at all threatened by the floodwaters.
Have a Wonderful 2014!

I guess the farmers were not very happy about the rain but the estetic side of the whole thing proved to be excellent. It looks actually beautiful and if it wasn't for the note and the title I wouldn't notice that it is the farm not some kind of lovely park.
I like that you didn't include plenty of the sky since the light was not that great on that day but focus on the pools and vivid green grass got you very good result.

Oh, this must be an unhappy scene for the farmers in the New Year. But it is a wonderful shot of a vast area with so much of details. Very nice light management with the sky and water bodies. Great colors too.
An excellent shot.

I have been watching the reports on the UK news, you seem to have been particularly badly affected in your part of the world and there does not appear to be any let-up in sight. I hope you have not been personally affected. Good documentary image with excellent colours and clarity.

where is it all coming from, this shot is typical of so much of the south of England at present. My hometown river burst its banks again yesterday and closed the main road through the town yet again. It seems endless at present and tipping down again as I write this. It makes for some dramatic images as this one is, but sad for those flooded out of their homes.
Enjoy the weekend - B.
