Yesterday before the remains of Hurricane Bertha struck conditions were ideal for sailing on Roadford Lake.
With over 730 acres of water, Roadford Lake has a genuine offer of something for everyone. It's a place where you can walk, fish, sail and cycle, or simply just relax with a good cream tea!
Roadford Lake is a spectacular lake set on the edge of Dartmoor between Okehampton and Launceston, very easily accessed from Stowford Cross on the A30, and with ample parking. On the southern bank you will find the Lakeside cafe and Function Suite which includes a Visitor Centre, giving information on the history of the valley, with interactive exhibits. The Lakeside cafe and gift shop and Visitor Centre are open daily.
Visitors to this side of the lake can enjoy miles of footpaths and a cycleway which winds its way through a maturing planted forest overlooking the Lake. Or you can take a rowing boat to explore the scenery from a different perspective from the water.

The two foreground boats look as if they are on a collision course:-) I like the way they sandwich the boat with the red sail, which is nicely placed just off-centre. An agreeable composition with good colours and sharpness. Good luck with Bertha, it looks none too promising anywhere in Britain today.

Hello Leslie ,
Enjoying sailing with little boats in the summer time , in a beautiful rural landscape . The vivid colors of the clothes and the sails attract the eye .
Today the remains of Bertha have reached my region , Brittany .

Bertha banging on the roof as I write this, so enjoying this idyllic and much calmer scene from yesterday. Lots of colour here and a more typical English summer scene but then rain and wind are sometimes typical of England mid summer too eh? Beautiful capture!
Enjoy your Sunday - B.

Finely composed picture of the beautiful location. The colourful boats make a nice triangle and along with the two rowers in bright red outfits make the foreground really attractive. The background with the rolling plains, the trees and the cattle is attractive too.
Thanks for sharing and have a nice Sunday.

An interesting scene taken with superb sense of the moment to get it so well. Vivid and well saturated colors made the view beautifully. Attractive work! TFS.

Must be fun to ride this nutshells on a windy day, although I wouldn't want to do it in the aftermath of a hurricane after all.
Great recreational scene.
have a great weekend

The vivid colours of the sails make a strong contrast with the green meadows and forests on the background.
A beautiful and attractive landscape that in itself is already presented in a good composition.
Hopefully you won't have any damage caused by the hurricane.
Best regards, Paul

This is so very nice. Two boats that may be heading for a crash, unless the identically dressed boys know how to handle their sails well. At a safe distance there is another boat with attractive red sails. Together they form a fine triangle. A wonderful green and verdant hillside in the background. The light and colours are superb.

Very nice view of the lake, I particularly like the colourful sails and life jackets against the blue/green/blue background.
