The sky was a perfect back drop on the day that we visited the area near Princetown on Dartmoor last December.
The Rendlestone Pumphouse has been unmanned and unused for more than 15 years,it was put on sale earlier this year.
It was built in the 1930`s when Tavistock Rural District Council acquired the site for a water pumping station and reservoir. The land later devolved to SWWA.
At auction it was sold for £75,000,which may or maybe not bargain depending upon the planners.
I`m not sure why but the exif information has been removed from this upload.

a wonderful B&W presentation this. Looks like a poster for some Spielberg UFO movie. Beautifully dramatic, moody and a tad spooky. Love it!

photoray (9751) 2014-04-10 7:49
Excellent wide angle high contrast monochrome of the ancient home, cuving fence foreground, and surrealistic exploding sky.

I thought that I recognized this super image - you posted a colour picture of this place. I think the b/w works tremendously well giving it a rather spooky look. Superb quality and loads of drama.
Kind Regards, Ann

Great photo in B&W, especially with that sky. I like the composition with that 'round' fence and then that little outhouse and discarded home.
Very well done!

Although the buildings and fencing are important to the photograph as a whole, the sky commands pride of place! It appears like some huge firework, exploding in a crescendo of light. It looses nothing by being in b&w, in fact, I think it adds to the mood.
My warm regards,

Good morning Les,
A top shelf B & W here. That sky and your elegant composition lends a true dramatic quality to this scene. I love the B & W treatment - just gives it an extra something- that sky and cloud alignment is to die for.
Thanks for sharing

Your exif data were clearly removed so that jealous and envious folk like me wouldn't be able to work out how exactly you managed to process such an amazing photograph with such wonderfully dramatic light and contrasts.
The sky is indeed the "star of the show" in this picture, the clouds having that almost "explosive" quality, and it makes, as you say, a magnificent background to these two little buildings and the circular fence around them.
Fabulous light, tones and contrasts, a fine composition, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness. And excellent processing work to boot.
And, of course, an interesting note.

Wow another magnificent monochrome. I really like the bluish caste to it. The definition of the old houses and the clouds really make the photo for me. A fantastic shot, I bet this was a winner at the camera club!

Wonderful mono conversation, great sky.. I love it! Thanks for the information.Keep up the brilliant work...

Hello Les -The sky makes a dynamic detail in this well composed scene. It just seems to explode from the horizon and I think the conversion was a good decision as the drama of the sky would not be as intense in colour.
Your B&W shots are a delight!
Subhogen (4063) 2014-04-13 5:00
I wish I could capture such beautiful cloud formations, a feature unique and beautiful part of many of your photos. I like the way they all seem to converge over a point in the horizon. Good composition with the house and the circular fenced ground. Perfect choice of B&W to accentuate those beautiful clouds. Very well taken and thanks for sharing.

Stunning black and white image, perfect contrast between the white and blacks, these cloud formations are to die for in landscapes.

I'm surprised I let this one get away in your gallery!
well, at least i'm getting to it now :)
this wide angle view is beautiful, the way the fence is presented its as if its wraped around the frame perfectly.
and yes, that sky is A+, you couldn't have asked for anything better.
very dramatic scene, splendid shot
adores (33846) 2014-05-05 15:51
Wonderful shot! The composition is great and you got the best possible sky. The fence seems to form a circle, I like it and I like the b&w conversion also. Really good work!
