This old building stands high on Dartmoor on the road between Tavistock and Princetown.
Once it was the site of a SWWA fresh water reservoir, now disused and boarded up it still defies the elements.

Nicely composed with good use of the wide angle lens
Beautiful mild golden light on the scenery and a gorgeous blueish/pinkish cloudy sky
Simple and very pleasant
All the best, have a nice day

The sky is quite superb with the long streaky clouds creating great depth. I like the point of view and the juxtaposition between the two weather-worn buildings. Superb light and colours; top class clarity.

hello leslie. you have a great perspective depth in this photo, thanks to the arrows of cirrocumulus clouds dominating the sky. the abandoned reservoir completes your ethereal subject, making the link between earth and sky.

Tous mes compliments,

wow, this is so much my kind of photography too :)
it caught my attention immediately.
love the large open sky, the trailing clouds, the abandoned feel and the fence posts.

Abandoned and long neglected houses often receive a look that makes me wonder what on earth made people live and work in that godforsaken place decades ago. What was life like in the middle of nowhere? There often is a certain beauty to places like that, which triggers my imagination. Apart from that, you were also lucky to get here at a moment when the clouds had developed some fascinating shapes. The relatively few colours are strong and vivid and I also like the good contrasts.

Whether you go to Australia or you travel in your own country, you always manage to shoot amazing and spectacular skies! Could it be that these clouds follow you?
Here it looks a bit like there has been an explosion.
Excellent clarity, colours and sharpness.
Best regards, Paul

we have had some amazing skies this autumn especially in late afternoon. This is one of those big sky shots that I just love. Simple fg elements anchoring the view and the glorious heavens above to make you gape in wonder. Love it!
Have a great weekend - B.

This is interesting Les, my brother worked for many years for the SWWA and I'm sure he must be familiar with this site. Nicely composed, I like how you have managed to get the burst of cloud unhindered between the buildings; they add dynamism to the shot. Beautifully managed in all respects. Warm regards Rosemary

With the clouds appearing to radiate from a single vanishing point there is an inspiring quality. I love the composition with the small house and shed, crowning the small mound. the colors are fabulous.

Not easy to avoid distorsion with ultra wide angle, and there is some here on the house. But the effect on the sky is great ! Excellent sharpness and great light.
Have a nice week end,

There are lots of things to admire in this composition, among them the effect of the wide angle lens, which has slightly distorted the perspective and give the image a really arty look about it. Then there is the beautiful texture of the old buildings, aswell as the rich colours. My favourite element is the sky and clouds, without the clouds, the photo would not be the same. All those elements together though, create a little masterpiece. Excellent shot.
Hugs to you and G

A spectacular frame with a strange atmosphere. It looks like an abandoned land. With wide lenses the sky looks great. I like the clouds and the light. Congratulations!

wow, great catch. Like your well chosen lower POV to show the scene. Nice effect created by the angle. The cottage is looking good in such a soft light and under a dramatic sky. Really enjoyable view. Tfs.

I love the effect of the wide-angle lens. The fence encircling the old buildings makes a well contained main subject and the unusual cloud formation seems to radiate from the gound. Excellent and realistic colour - a lovely image.
Kind Regards, Ann

Another good shot! As usual, you captured a great light and the composition is very good also! I like the old houses and the fabulous sky you captured! I believe the old house must be worth a visit inside. Good work!
