Photographer’s Note

Hello everyone,a view today of Saltram House at Plympton, near Plymouth.

"Saltram stands high above the River Plym in a rolling and wooded landscaped park that now provides precious green space on the outskirts of Plymouth.

The house, with its magnificent decoration and original contents, was largely created between the 1740s and 1820s by three generations of the Parker family.
It features some of Robert Adams finest rooms, exquisite plasterwork ceilings, original Chinese wallpapers and an exceptional collection of paintings, including many by Sir Joshua Reynolds.

The gardens are predominantly 19th century and contain an Orangery and several follies, as well as beautiful shrubberies and imposing specimen trees."
(Information from the National Trust.)

If you enjoy visiting historical places of this type, then I can confirm that you will enjoy a visit to Saltram.
We had often walked through the 'outer' grounds, as these are completely free to the public. But as we are actually members of the Trust,we decided to visit the house, and I am so glad that we did.One of the guides described the house as one of the jewels in the Trusts crown!
They were so right. There is so much to see,in one visit, you cannot do it justice.

The gardens are lovely in their own way too, with lots of paths to explore.

Thanks for looking.
