This is my 100th Post on TE!
This photo was taken in the Barbican of Plymouth on a gray, dreary day. The warm pub was a welcome sight as we walked around Plymouth.
Plymouth's Barbican is home to Britain's maritime heritage. If you are an American in search of your history, if you are wondering whether your ancestors sailed on the Mayflower in 1620, then Plymouth Barbican.com is where you can find out more about the place from which the Mayflower began its historic voyage.
Every year, Plymouth plays host to Americans who travel here to celebrate Thanksgiving in Plymouth. Visitors can tour the historic Barbican, see the Mayflower Steps and enjoy a walk along the sea front with its elegant recently restored colonnade, past the Citadel to Plymouth Hoe with its unbeatable views out to sea. Climb Smeaton's Tower and watch a game of bowls, played upon the famous Bowling Green where Sir Francis Drake famously finished his game before tackling the Spanish Armada. (Barbican Visitor Guide)
