Hound Tor is a tor on Dartmoor, Devon, England and is a good example of a heavily weathered granite outcrop. It is easily accessible, situated within a few minutes from the B3387 between Bovey Tracey and Widecombe-in-the-Moor.

This is a superb composition of the desolate landscape with the main subject very well displayed against the dramatic sky. Great use of the wide angle to make up the equally impressive foreground. The colours and sharpness are exquisite and your note makes for really interesting reading.
Thanks for sharing and have a great new week ahead.

Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson spring to mind:-) Superb capture of this unusual rock formation that looks spectacular against that quite dramatic sky. Perfect light to bring out the colours and detail. I like the way the foreground rocks lead us into the scene. The abseiler is a bonus.

love your pictures from Dartmoor, they make me hanker for a return visit, it has been a fair few years since I last ventured off the A30 on hurried trips to family in Cornwall. This one makes that diversion all the more pertinent as it is a real beauty of a shot.
Have a good week - B.

You have certainly captured the wildness and loneliness of the moor and, by reference to the tor, rekindled memories of the Sherlock Holmes' drama!
I like how you have composed this, using the craggy details of the r/g rock for immediate attention and as a natural guide to the second focal rock, on the horizon. The textural details have been very well handled.
Have a great day,

To mee You have managed to create an image with lots of presence. I can feel the size and the weight of the rocks and the movements in the sky interacts with the position of the rocks on the ground. Great work!

I like the colour and shapes of these huge boulders and how they seem to have "grown" out of the nicely grass covered ground. The low POV also gives us a fine view of the sky and the nicely shaped clouds. The light is very good and the clarity of this photo is admirable.

You have a well chosen pov. The right hand rock in the fg anchors the image. The middle rock seems to have soaked up the blue of the sky. I like the light and natural colours.

I like this view up the "tor". Textures and colours are well rendered and contribute to this natural landscape picture.

Maybe simple but this is not simple, through the wonderful structure of the rocks with nice green between the big stones .
But you try to make a nice panoramic view.
A lovely picture with in background the fantastic nature.
Excellent composition, nice colours and perfect presentation.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice day,

This has my interest as I would like to explore what seem to be big boulder ahead and the essential fg is just crying out to be photographed providing a nice balanced image. Very attractive landscape and moody shot from this impressive shooting point, lovely green colour and the sky is amazing. Great capture, TFS

Great point of view: the rock on the
forground creates an extra depth and
make also the picture extra exciting.
Composition and the light management
are also great.

Ciao dear Les
There is now doubt that this is spectacular landscape, but the success of this photo lies with the photographer and how you have composed it. The rocks composed like that accentuate the perspective and lead the eye in very cleverly. As does the low POV. The Rule of Thirds framing is also very cleverly executed. Stunning sharpness, saturation and textures.
Hugs to you and G, wish you were here at the moment to enjoy the Sydney Vivid Lightshow

You're capturing well this place by a good composition and very excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see a lot of huge rocks on the moor. The whole is harmonized well by a good angle and tasteful color combination.
