Lew Valley Autumn, a photo from Devon, England

Photographer's Note

Along the Lew Valley as in many areas the colours of Autumn grace the trees.

The more southerly of the two River Lew`s rises on the northwest corner of Dartmoor, near Sourton, and flows west and somewhat south, through the Lew Valley past Lewtrenchard and south of Lewdown before joining the River Lyd near Marystow. It has in earlier times also been known as Lew Water.

Hello Leslie,

This is a lovely pastorale. The presence of the person, enjoying the scenery, is an essential ingredient. THe composition is like a stage, yet the feel is very natural. Reminiscent of 19th century romanticism, and timeless at the same time. Great shot.

Typical bookcover Les.,this is not easy to do,form a dark place with such bright backlight,specially concerning the contrast,good work.

beautiful country scene, that only the English countryside, knows how to give, where the slightest ray of sunshine lights up the fall colors.

Hello Les,

Like a window on nature - wonderful! As though you have just walked through a long forest path and all of a sudden you come to this fence and this vista opens up before you.

Beautiful colours, perfect lighting and exposure and, as usual, perfect sharpness and detail. The addition of an onlooker in the picture carries the viewer's eye into the distance. Could that onlooker possibly be a photographer with a Minolta Dimage Z3?

Good Morning Leslie - What a cleverly composed shot. The dark trees and FG make a super frame for the autumn view beyond. The light is attractive and well managed; subtle detail in the FG shadows. A well presented composition with a slightly ethereal atmosphere. The exposure is very well managed and the watcher is nicely placed in the frame. It has the feeling of looking at a painting in an art gallery. Excellent work.
