Just inland from Hartland point on the North Devon coastline on the road to Hartland village we came across these windblown trees, clear evidence of the power of Mother Nature.

spooky and yet wonderful. I love the shapes of trees in winter and when blown into shapes like this they are all the more fascinating. Like your use of B&W here to add to the effect and atmosphere. Love it!
Have a great weekend - B.

What a dramatic picture and ideally suited to the black and white treatment. Excellent composition with the road coming in from bottom left and leading straight to the focal point offered by the two houses. Superb technical presentation with a fine range of tones and pin sharpness.
CLODO (30058) 2014-02-28 5:56
A dramatic sky to enhance the tree position and make us think of the several storms you get this winter, emphasised by the blueish B&W mood.

Oh Les, this is such a wonderful shot very much to my taste both in the subject matter and the toned and monochromatic processing. The bent trees are a fabulous shape as they arch into the frame and describe the force of the prevailing wind. Your composition is beautifully balanced and finely managed with a sky that underlines the natural forces of the weather. Top class! Have a great weekend. Rosemary

Superb shot in monochrome. Nice composition created by the curve of the road. Beautiful rural scene from England. Love the contrasts in the sky being accentuated by your excellent B&W conversion. Excellent photography, thanks for sharing.

Fine monochromatic high contrast scene, with the blown tree limbs, the road leading onto the houses on the horizon, then the dramatic storm cloud sky.

I love this composition and the monochrome conversion. It looks like out of a movie from the 1940's, possibly an adaptation of a novel by Dickens, or something really spooky. The shapes of the trees are fantastic, the road makes such a nice curve and the clouds look very threatening.

excellent idea and perfect realization

Hi Leslie. The weather has left its mark on the landscape and your POV and B&W treatment has accentuated nature's imprint on the countryside. Nicely balanced composition.Best wishes. Klaudio.

this monochrome format makes the picture even more dramatic and it could be an illustration to some sinister story. The road leads to the lonely house and the trees look like bending under strong wind. The whole character is enhanced by the stormy sky.

Wonderful black & white picture!
Sharpness, exposure, horizontal foramt, slim black borders, chosen pov and composition are all excellent!
Those windblown trees are real highlight elements!
I also like that sky!

Oooh I love this. What a cracking photo, which conveys so cleverly the idea of being windswept, but also the spookiness of this landscape. The structure and contrast of the image is sensational, as is the bluish caste to the monochrome. A stunning Black & White photo, one of the best I've seen here on TE.
Hugs to you and G

Good morning Leslie,
very nice the shot that looks like as a painting.I like the excellent placement of the earthy road in the frame as lead-in the eye on the first houses of the village, the lean of the tree on the left and the fascinating grey sky to completes perfect the whole scenery.Well done.
Have a good week,danos
