Today we have been on Dartmoor, one of our favourite places.
The whole area is a mixture of sharp gorse bushes, thousands of miles of dry stone walling, and stunted and dying young trees.
We started out in brilliant sunshine but a heavy mist descended so very quickly, making it difficult to find our way. Many people get lost on the moor and Rescue Services have to try to locate them, which doesn`t always have favourable results.

You have given a fine, visual message to back up your notes. This land looks wonderfully wild but, also, a hint of barrenness, suggesting the danger. The scattered dead branches remind me graphically of cattle horns peeping from the sand in a desert!
You have taken great care to place the features in their strongest position for dramatic composition.
I like this very much.
My warm regards,

I also like this composition, which clearly shows the beauty of this rather desolate landscape. The foreground trees are very well included and look superb against that lovely Devon sky. Ideally exposed and with agreeable natural colours and very good sharpness. I wish you and Les a pleasant week to come.

Alone or as couple, take a way in a area unknown without accompaniment is never recommended, I would this never do!
The structure of the nature shows really a dry part of these environment.
Perspective and depth are very nice
Excellent composition, nice presentation too.
Very well done, TFS.

You have written a very thoughtful note indeed. I think it comes as a surprise to inexperienced people just how changeable and hostile the weather and conditions can be in the more desolate parts of the British Isles. Every year people have to be rescued from the higher and more remote parts of Scotland because they have set off hillwalking on a sunny day just dressed in T-shirts and sandals and the weather has suddenly changed for the worse. The very same is obviously true of Dartmoor.
Your picture depiects the desolation of this place and the exposed face of the land absolutely perfectly. I think the low colour saturation adds to the feeling very well. Your composition is excellent, the skeletal bits of tree almost mimicking the carcass of a dead animal and perfectly placed in the frame. Lovely soft light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.
