One of the benefits of our recent stormy weather has been some spectacular rainbows, this one is over the village of Chillaton in West Devon,so far there have been no reports of pots of gold being handed in to the local constabulary...
Chillaton lies to the west of Dartmoor in one of the most beautiful agricultural landscapes in Devon.
A short drive from three market towns; Launceston, Tavistock and Okehampton, Chillaton is also within easy reach of wonderful Devon and Cornish coastlines
A small, friendly village in a delightful Devon valley, Chillaton is a great place to live, work or visit at any time of the year.

Great composition with wonderful colours. Beautiful landscape. I love the fading of the landscape into the dark rain filled sky in the distance. The rainbow is so strong that I think I can see where to dig for that pot of gold.

you were very lucky to be there at this time - the rainbow makes the whole scene so much different. Amazing landscape too with all the little houses scattered about the fields - I enjoy it a lot. Great colors and superb light.

A lovely scene even without the rainbow. I like the misty atmosphere and the soft natural tones.

Hello Les - Another beautiful landscape where you have been out and about to see the wonders provided by the awful weather! Superb sharp light really makes the tiny sheep pop out from the green pastures, in fact all the whites have a brilliance and freshness to them which gives great contrast to the shot. The rainbow of course is a bonus but I am struck by the freshness of the scene! Top class. Stay dry. Warm regards rosemary

I always thought rainbows signalled the end of rain, but it is tipping down again as I write this :-(. A beautifully captured shot though and a stunning Devon landscape too. Wonderful and iconic West Country.

Hello Leslie ,
Despite of the flood created by the heavy rainfalls in our régions , there are , as you say , some benefits : The mild temperatures , and as we can see on your fine picture , superb rainbows .
It almost seems to be a springstime scene .

Quite eye catching capture of the marvelous landscape, white houses ( seems a fairy tale) and the rainbow traversing the sky
May be the pot of gold was this capture? or staing at this village?
Well done, warm regards and Happy 2014

OMG, Les... what a capture! They say the great ones make it look easy, and it does seem that you only need turn your camera on and out comes great art!
May I digress slightly? I have a project going and want your input, as this is the best way I have (so far, anyway) of reaching you. I should also add that your work was an ever-present inspiration to me in this endeavor!
As you have seen in some of my earlier posts, there is an ever-growing collection of statues along the bayside walk in La Paz, BCS, Mexico. I have not been able to find -- in English or Spanish -- any comprehensive guide that identifies the artists or provides any other basic info, so I want to create one.
We visited La Paz in December and I shot >1,000 frames of these artworks. Since our return, I have been reviewing them and processing my favorites. Today, I have posted the first cull on a website and I humbly ask you for any insight, opinions, or critiques you might offer.
I acknowledge that we live in a very busy world and I thank you in advance for any time you kindly lend to this project. Do not feel like you need to comment on or even look at every image. Likewise, please remember that I know we are friends and I have a thick skin, so there is no reason to be diplomatic -- let me know what you honestly think of these images and, as always, if you see a way they could be improved, I want to hear your ideas!
With only two exceptions, nothing has been added or removed from these images. Specifically, the stars in the sky in the images of the Mantarraya are the same light that was captured in the original exposure, although I admit they have been accentuated in post-processing. The exceptions? In one shot of the Ballena, and one shot of the Vaquitas, I have freed the sculpture from its post to allow the art to swim or fly away!
So check them out when you have the time, please? http://fotos.estudiochispa.com/?page_id=77 Also, feel free to forward this note and the URL to any of our other friends.
Peace, love, and creative exposures to you!

fantastic photo of rainbow. You were in great spot and you have perfectly used the opportunity. The rainbow seems to end in the village and the English tradition says something about the pot with the gold at the end of the rainbow...
It seems to indicate the house were you should look for it...
Beautiful light with several layers of visibility and quite long shades.

A very dramatic skyline!! A moment timely captured and the eye-catching rainbow in dark sky. What a lovely sweeping perspective and I love the exposure, bit of warm tone in the fg adding a fine overall contrast to lush green environment with the slight mist give us the lovely textures. A truely rewarding effort, Very well done, Congrats

you know, with the amount of RAIN we get in a year in Vancouver, you'd think I'd have a rainbow photo in my gallery by now! ...Nope!
good on ya to have this beauty in your collection!
even if took this photo without the rainbow i'd still enjoy it. the large amounts of green, the charming little fence, the rolling hills with brocoli looking trees and the misty blue sky all make it look 'pretty'.
the rainbow is an added bonus for sure.
keep looking for that pot of gold :)
