Always worth a visit on a sunny day, the woodlands around Burrator Reservoir have become lush and green with moss after a mild winter with lots of rain.
Burrator Reservoir, near Yelverton, Devon
map ref : LR202 555685
Postcode - PL20 6PE
Undisturbed Burrator is surrounded by mixed woodland which sharply contrasts with the open moor and rugged Dartmoor tors.
The reservoir is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders due to its wealth of footpaths and bridleways. Many of the trails lead on to Dartmoor so it makes an ideal starting point for longer trips.
The circular walk which follows the lanes around the water is ideal for families as it is easy going and flat. It will take between 1.5 - 2 hours to complete and is approximately 3.5 miles. Parking is possible at various locations including the Quarry car park, Norsworthy Bridge and the Dam.
Low cost bank fishing for both rainbow and brown trout is available at this scenic water; permits are sold at the garage in Yelverton.
Being within Dartmoor National Park we kindly request that you drive and park with consideration to other users and animals.
The National Cycle Route 27 runs near to Burrator further information is available at www.sustrans.co.uk

What an amazing capture. A scene as if out of a fairy tale book.
We only miss here a white horse running towards the forest!
TFS and have a nice week ahead

wonderful view of the wooded grassland with the tall trees. Beautiful colour and contrast depicting the freshness of the landscape after rain. Beautiful nature.
Thanks for sharing and have a great new week.

one of the things that I have noticed from the deluge of recent months is the amount of moss growing on everything, including my car! In this woodland you can see the green velvet everywhere and this shot captures it in such an enticing and beautiful way. Glorious!
Have a good week - B.

Wonderful forest, very attractive view, excellent combination of the sun lights, graphic of the trees and some misty air. You are right, good place for a walk.

This is really quite delightful. Perfectly exposed and benefiting from a lovely light and agreeable natural tones. Excellent composition. Isn't lovely to have some sustained sunshine after all that terrible rain.

How nice to have some sunshine after all the dark, wet and miserable weather we've all been suffering this year. And you've caught those rays of sunshine perfectly here as they beam through this beautiful woodland.
Your almost contre jour approach has provided some lovely strong contrasts, the near trees standing out beautifully against their background while there is a lovely soft "mistiness" surrounding the distant trees. And the wet pathway, lit in strong light, leads us nicely from bottom left into the depths of the forest.
Gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure (in difficult conditions) and exquisite details and sharpness.

Like a perfect summer day, the sun shining through the impressive trunks. But I guess that, at this time of the year, there will be the summer sounds of birds and insects. But still a very pleasant view!

The receding intensity of colour and contrast adds excellent depth to this woodland scene Les. A lovely place for a walk and as a lover of trees and woodland, this is a delight to me.
Warm regards Rosemary

This is a fine image of light creeping through the trees. I like the way the light has chosen to brighten the opening in the woods. Excellent tranquil atmosphere captured with the sylvan surroundings. The repeating pattern of the trees are attractive as well. Nice shot with warm light and natural colours.
Thanks for sharing.
