Yesterday we re-visited the area around Ashbury, away from the hustle and bustle in an idyllic area of West Devon not too far from Northlew...
Northlew is a small village six miles north west of Okehampton. The village maintains a lot of character and boasts some superb rural buildings. Situated 450 feet above sea level the village enjoys beautiful views of Dartmoor. It also receives approx 50 inches of rain each year, giving rise to the local saying 'the Devil died of a cold at Northlew! This probably also accounts for the verdant pastures on view here.

A lovely view over the verdant Devonshire countryside. The pair of trees makes an excellent focal point. Lovely soft light and most agreeable natural colours. An image with great depth and perfectly sharp throughout.

La campagne anglaise est aussi belle que la campagne italienne mais avec des verts beaucoup plus soutenus et de belles vaches pour pimenter le tout.

This is a real beauty Les. The trees perch perfectly on the slight rise in the land allowing us to see their twisted roots which are a wonderful feature of the shot. The whole FG area is crisp and nicely saturated with the light working well to show the soft rolling curves of the land. The softer toned wooded distant view gives very good depth to the shot and I do like the mistiness of the colours. In all a very lovely photograph and one I would have been proud to have produced. Warm regards rosemary

A breath taking landscape and such a fresh looking English countryside, benefit of wonderful balmy warm light. Beautifully composed, the overwhelming fresh green is well stretched into the horizon extending the sense of depth while the eyes get busy on the flocks and the tree. A very very pleasing to the eye, picturesque and serene. Delightful, Congrats

Very nice and pleasing to the eye scenery. I especially like details such as those black and white cows. Tree is also interesting, it is a perfect tree for this scene. The photo has only few colors but tells so much. Keep it simple.

Another great landscape post in your impressive gallery! The place was selected perfectly to build such a charming composition with beautiful layers and interesting elements. Very well observed and done. TFS.
Have a nice day!

Excellent framing, I really love the shape of the tree and its position in the composition. Wide viewpoint on the Devon countryside, with lovely green tones.
Excellent point of view.
