This shot of a sunrise was taken whilst airborne looking east from approximately Derbyshire area flying from Liverpool southbound into Europe.
The image appears slightly distorted due to the heated windows of the aircraft cockpit which makes the image appear slightly abstract. However, the layers of clouds present on this day are clearly visible adding to vibrancy of the strong red colouration present in the shot.
The suns reflection can be seen just above it which I think is an unfortunate consequence of using layers of filters over the lense such as UV and polariser. However, I think it's still worth a posting here on Trekearth.
