Good Morning Everyone,
From the TE Meeting ...
Whilst exploring the delights of Buxton, we wandered down into a park, having been told by a local that there was a beautiful sculpture to be seen.
We had to be careful not to give anyone the wrong impression, as a group of adults, all carrying cameras, headed towards the children's playground! Fortunately, no-one took exception to us and we were able to take a few shots of the park and its surrounds.
I was immediately attracted by the light and shadows on this bulbous railing. (My husband tells me that I'm never happy without shadow patterns or reflections!) I transferred the shot to b&w as I felt it had greater impact.
Have a good day, Bev :-)

A quite effective, eye-catching image. Suits B&W perfectly. I like how you have taken the photo on the diagonal and encapsulated the family in the top right corner.

now look at this lines, angles, patterns and the use of black and white! Those women perfectly placed as your eye follows the diagonal from lower left to upper right - clever composition! I like it!

Well all I can say is that this image is a lot more appealing than that "beautiful sculpture" to which you were directed - at least, if by that you mean the tree trunk which had been chopped about with a chainsaw. Even my carpenter friend didn't think much of that! :o)
But here I can see that Mike's influence has rubbed off on you - strong lines of composition, strong contrasts, shadows, black and white - I think you might have become a convert.
Seriously, this is a delightfully and very well composed shot and one into which I suspect you must have put a lot of thought, whether that was at the time of taking or during cropping/processing - or both. Technically perfect too with spot-on exposure and exquisite depth of field and sharpness.

A most original composition very well rendered in black and white. The diagonal framing with the two ladies on the upper right corner is excellent and so are the sharpness and details of the metalwork and its shadows. I think such a scene can probably bring out a few more such pleasing pictures.
Thanks for sharing and have a nice evening.

So glad you were conscious enough to steer clear of the "creepy factor" at the playground....adults with camera's, surrounded by children...yikes!! :) I can only assume the sculpture in question was beautiful in its own right, but I'm glad your senses picked up on this opportunity instead.
Tons of graphic appeal, and a smart idea to angle it some for added impact. Off all the available subjects, sometimes it simply takes nature shining light to produce a hidden gem...and you found it here. Beautifully done! Enjoy the new day. All the best.

Very well seen indeed. The shape of the railings and the shadow patterns are very eye-catching. I like the tilt and the inclusion of the people.
Kind Regards, Ann

imaginative use of B&W this. I love the patterns and shapes here it is a compelling and arty shot that works irresistibly. You are right about the colourless impact here too! Like it!

Excellent monochrome photo, superb light and shadow play. The tilted arrangement is a very good option.
The well-chosen tight crop eliminates all unwanted distractions.
Very well done.

You makes of these picture an artwork with the shadows of the handrail, as extra the two people in the cross.
You chose a nice angle, with perspective and depth image.
Composition and presentation make these picture attractive.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice day,

Thanks Beverly for the nice note written on my latest picture.
A fine artistic approach, used well the curves of the iron fence, and its shadows. maybe a wider view by just a bit, would show a little more.
My best regards,

Composition original, bien cadrer avec le jeu ombre et les personnes au coin de l'image, bien le choix du N/B
CLODO (28938) 2014-06-19 9:12
so you've tilted the picture, removed the top (where I was walking to you)and tranfered it into a B&W mood to enhance the railing and its shadow, proving to the TE world that sunshine happens in UK!!!!!!!
best sunny regards
