On a recent visit to Rydal Mount, the beautiful house in the village of Rydal in Cumbria where the Lakeland poet, William Wordsworth, lived most of his life, we took a walk around the lovely gardens of the house.
William Wordsworth designed the layout of the gardens at Rydal, and he often said that those grounds were his office as opposed to the spacious office/writing room in his house.
I was rather taken by this delightful garden shed and I could imagine Wordsworth himself perhaps pottering around here tending the garden and at the same time being inspired to write some of his wonderful poetry.

Exactly or we live here in a fairy tale area, with this old small house as subject around in the green environment
You play excellent with light and shade.
Colours and sharpness are perfect.
I like your composition, excellent captured.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice Sunday,

this looks so cute, a house for a dwarf. I love the number of green tones here, composition perfect not a tiny disturbing element in the peaceful scene.

A cozy refuge for a romantic poet.
Nice vivid green. Great contrast

Tonight I've got Lisa on one side of my photo, and you on the other, not quite adjacent but close.
I saw this little shed and toured the house a few years ago when we visited Rydal. As you say, the gardens are absolutely beautiful.
You positioned the house nicely here, pushing the spreading ferns into the corner where they have the most effect. The range of greens and browns, all earthy colours, and the brighter light on the foliage in the background which we can see between the trees, make this a very charming delight. It's often been said that a man needs a shed, and it's nice to think of WW messing around in it. It's in excellent condition, and the richly coloured mosses on the roof, and the brickwork, are suggestive of its age. Perhaps the window is new - in any case it makes a good highlight against the darker tones.

I think the moss covered roof combined with the traditional stone build makes this little place very special, especially as its centerpiece in a lush green wood like this. Its a nice idea to think of Wordsworth wandering (perhaps lonely as a cloud?) through this place. Very rich colors and image, thanks.
All the best

now that is a shed that will not succumb to a high wind! It looks so twee and wonderful in this setting, I love the mossy roof. So much character and a place to escape to and sample some home brew. A beautifully executed shot full of charm and glorious green hues. Magical!
Enjoy a peaceful Sunday - Brian.

Hi John, Fantastioc mysterious garden like from fairy tale book. The trees are imposing, and this small shed with stone walls, and moss on the roof is absolutely delightful. and the ferns are so big here too. I would be happy to see this charming garden. And thanks to IB that now the big format is possible, it is such a feast for the eyes. marvelous photo.

Already the thumbprint picture gave me associations to an oil painting, with thick layers of paint. The many different shades of green enhances this impression, when looking at the big version. A well composed "painting" and a very interesting house, but no chimney, how was it heated?

another very interesting subject for a post.
with the moss growing on the angular rooftop it certainly has its charms.
and i like how the bright white trim of the window shines through almost as the main focal point, my eyes are totally drawn to it.
I also like how the shed seems to be completely sheltered and protected, as if its almost hidden.
did you peak into the window? :)
nice work John!
keep them coming

What a wonderful retreat this little garden shed would make John. Nestled in amongst the trees and ferns, its roof adorned with mosses it sits so comfortably in its surroundings. I love woodland areas and this is a most beautiful shot. Well lit, the details of the stone work and contrasting white window frame are well captured but for me the beauty lies in the glorious palette of green hues. English weather receives bad press but here we see the results of rain.... superb!
Warm regards rosemary

I had to laugh when I read this.
It is every man's dream to have his little shed at the bottom of the garden - writing poems, brewing beer, mending furniture, it makes no difference, it is a personal retreat.
This is a fine shot.
I see the recommended f/g triangle and wonderful textures that are almost palpable.
You have a fine eye for composition and the shed is very well positioned. The tall verticals, around it, help to produce a sense of cosiness, as they protect it very well.
My warm regards,

The heavy annual rainfall in the Lake District must contribute to its gorgeous lush greens as seen here in your photo. The moss covered shed is delightful and looks more solidly built than the ones bought in our local DIY centre! The shady corner of the garden has been photographed excellently with first class sharpness and skill.
Kind Regards, Ann
