This shot shows the pretty lake of Loweswater, one of the western lakes in the Lake District.
The western lakes are not as popular as the southern lakes and, for this reason, when we walked the shores of this lake we saw very few other walkers.
It was a good time of the day to photograph as the low sun was beginning to make interesting shadow patterns on the shingly lake's edge.
This is a great place for walking, great scenery, good paths, not too steep and with a very welcoming pub at one end which supplies both delicious food and drink.
My kind regards, Bev :-)

Oh, this is just the thing to cheer me up during this dismal dark, wet and windy weather!
A beautiful photograph from your walk around Loweswater with lovely natural colours, lovely light and perfect exposure. Your composition is both classic and very pleasing and the details and sharpness are exquisite.
Have a Wonderful 2014!

I have been to Lake District couple of times as always this place left me surprised with the nature's beauty. I like that you are showing us the less known part of it. Very serene picture with good composition and well balanced colors. Lovely light.

Hello Bev - Are you surviving the wet weather? This shot is anything but dismal; pretty light bathes the scene and gives the landscape a slightly pink tint! I bet you're longing for Spring aren't you? Take care and warm regards Rosemary

just wish this watery wonderland was nearer, I loved my one and only trip here despite never seeing it like this (i.e. dry). A beautifully composed shot that brings out the natural atmosphere and majesty of this place. Irresistible!

J'aime beaucoup le point de vue en bordure du lac. Il offre un très beau jeu d'ombres et de lumière.On a envie de tendre la main pour laisser l'eau glisser entre nos doigts.

This really seems to be a perfect area for walking, I envy you. It´s a long time since I had the opportunity to see the British countryside. It is not so simple to get there, there are no more ferries from Gothenburg to Newcastle (and left-hand driving does not really attract me either). So I have to enjoy all your pictures from here!

Good evening Beverly,
A place to take an easy hike along, the lake scenery conveys a calm feel, and joy when looking( nd taking pictures) all over.
Fine view to the far side, green bushes on the banks with the barren hill in a good DOF.

I have to admit, I would never have thought this place to be in the UK, it reminds me quite a lot of American geology! I dont know if its the blue sky is perhaps throwing me a little, but that and the partly dry riverbed look very exotic! Beautiful scene, and I really like how you have played with the light and shade here.
All the best

A classic and very well composed Lakes scene. I like the contrast between the sunlit hills and the dark beach in the foreground. And a pub to welcome you at the end of the walk!

Every time I see pictures of Lake District I find it looks a little like Scotland or some mountains of Ireland. Not so far from there anyway ! Nice autumn colours on the mountain, good POV with the beach in the FG that adds depth.

Beautiful view of the lake on clear sunlit day. Certainly a fantastic place for walks and pub at the end promises refreshments for the famished walker.
I like the natural colors and light of this photo. The textures on the hill in the BG is attractive as well. Nice serene and calm atmosphere captured. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice picture, I like the trees to the edge of the Lake.
Also the mountain slope is nice soft contrast.
Depth and perspective are pleasant.
Sharpness and clarity are perfect
Very well done, TFS.

A splendid landscape, with superb POV captured by including the contrast to give the branches of the tree and its shadow, which gives a greater effect of luminosity to the nice view of the lake and hill background.
Good brightness and sharpness, with a nice range of colors.
Well done. I love it.
Have a good day.

very nice the view as the presentation of the Lake district with the low level of the water to be seen in the scene.I like the excellent light and the colour management with the beauty of the place to be superb.

Thank you for your informative note. I have noticed as well that the western areas are more photogenic but so far we have seen only the eastern part. I guess it means we definitely have to make a trip to the wild west with fewer people. Great illustration for the beauty and solitude of this area. Very attractive colors of nature especially the brownish color on the hill.
Very well done!!

Can you believe I went to the Lake District without a camera?? That was in the days when chasing good looking Cumbrian fellas was far more important than taking photos of majestic landscape. If only I knew then what I know now ;)
But to your photo, which makes me realise the error of my ways. The landscape is of course stunning, but the way you have composed the image, with the curve of the river and the majestic hills in the BG is quite beautiful. I love the light and the effect of the reflected hills which has turned the water into liquid gold. Excellent work!

good composition, i like the hill in bg and the lake partly covered by the trees and vegetation on the left.
