This is another picture taken on a TE weekend in Cumbria. Martin (MJR) took us to the Threlkeld Quarry and Mining Museum which also has the largest collection in the world of vintage excavators. They appear to have been left to decay. However, the site is a photographers dream with so many opportunities for photos. While the 'boys' amongst us (MJR, Tyro, Ricx and Jaywalker) liked photographing the big toys I decided to focus on rust, a dominant feature of this place. For more information and pictures of the excavators please see some of Martin and Rich's recent TE pictures.

I have to admit that in this case I would have gone with the girls and watched the rust and peeling paint. Big toys never interested me much, colours and patterns do.

We have seen so many different and varied pictures from this TE meeting! This is a very artistic approach. You can see many different pictures here. A very different view of an old mine.

boys were interested in big excavators, you with rust and old paint, and me? Probably visitors and guides were for me the most interesting. What a fantastic painting created by nature of decaying and careful observer with camera. Fine composition, it looks three-dimensional. How many layers we can see here? I like this monster in the right corner.
have a nice week

While the boys were playing with their big toys, you focused on a new world, full of fantasy, color, matter, shapes. I like very much this close up.

The nature and over time create their own abstract works.
Interesting close-up of an old excavator, whose texture of rust and paint seems an abstract painting.
Good photographic eye and creative.

amo molto questo genere di foto.
Se fatte bene, danno un piacevole effetto grafico, come è possibile vedere qui in questa tua foto.
Ottimi lo sharp e la resa cromatica.

From this abstract I can make many pictures in my mind and so it is a real pleasure to view. The longer I look at it the more I see. Well done.

sometime simple things can be very good subject to photography. Here we can see a nice minimal effect by the rust on the saint. Excellent composition. Tfs.

An intriguing close up, rust vintage stuff, the well matured rust that had been worn over the years which really brought out the shadows and dark colouring. A smaller area as main focus well defined and critically crispy and pin sharp with less depth. This brilliant peeling rust has such wonderful textures, color and contrast, combined with the attention to closeness makes it very pronounced, a hidden beauty can only be seen by keen eyes! A very competant shot. Congrats.

I saw this theme 'en passant' today., and thought of you !
I have to say while I dont have a problem with rust, ( it ,or eradicating it, earn't me lots of money back along !! ) I think my own personal jury may still be out on this particular one !
One for presentation ...
