The last of my nature shots for a while is this of these ducks on a small pond near my home, the female Mallard was not very happy with the male on the bank & quacked at him for some time, then she started rearing up at him & this was my resulting photo, South Cumbria has a great deal to offer if we only look.

The shore line curves toward the subject that is beautifully framed and perfectly animated in this first-rate shot. The best animal shots in my view are those that display their behavior in a unique way, that you have done here. Very nice.
pat0500 (21561) 2007-05-16 7:50

Splendid picture, middle of the nature with the ducks as subject, the open wings gives a excellent daily life view, very well done. TFS.
Greetings from Belgium,
tzopitoula (549) 2007-05-16 8:21
Very powerful shot, you have captured a beautiful moment!
batalay (35723) 2007-05-16 8:54
I like this action shot even better than the last one you posted. The colors are superb, as are the composition and definition. Here is a female mallard picking on a docile male!
When I had posted my photo, "Leonardo's Dream," with a pair of Canadian Geese, overflown by a commercial jet, I failed to mention in my note, that I had just been sneaking up to photographon a pair of geese in the small pond behind my house. Suddenly the two new geese appeared and made a b-line for the pond, and the two already in the water attacked and drove away the interlopers. These guys are ill-tempered! Even worse than the drivers in Miami, New York and Los Angeles, just identified as the most egregious practicers of road rage.
jlbrthnn (76037) 2007-05-16 9:55
I love your nature shots and these ducks. Man or ducks we have always problem with our females, but they are sometimes very pleasant. Good realisation and timing.
scobert (5355) 2007-05-16 10:16
You are building an impressive bird photography gallery. Ducks are funny to watch and I really like this "ducks in action" photo and your beautiful job of framing them with the flowers in the foreground. Great job!
maltese (22853) 2007-05-16 11:32

melmcree (18) 2007-05-17 0:39
Great photo. So much in this one but let me start with the first layer. The flowers create a really nice frame with their color and shape. Layer 2 the water and the land have rich color and texture and of course layer 3 the action of the birds. Wonderful pose, composition, lighting, timing, focus and sharpness. This is a fantastic image.
vinicio (23423) 2007-05-17 3:39

Great shot!!! You taken right moment...very very well!
Good composition with these colors and contrast
WhiteRose (10) 2007-05-18 11:19
You're buiding up quite a portfolio of nature shots. This is another good one. Great use of shutter speed to freeze most of the action but allow a small amount of motion blur in the female's wings. It looks like she's about to give him a clip round the ear. It's obvious just from looking at the photo what was happening at the time it was taken, and that surely is the mark of a successful photograph. The foreground adds a nice touch without distracting from the subject.
Marcelo_Almeida (1044) 2007-05-18 11:59
Belo momento capturado, ótima composição, nitidez e dof. Nice shot,

He hasn't been doing his share of the housework! Excellent timing to capture this funny shot. You even managed to compose it well with the inclusion of the daffodils at the bottom.
TopGeo (38204) 2007-05-19 10:50
Hi Wilson, a wonderful POV, with the main tree ducks all in great position in the lake. The whole scene allows us feel nice! Beautiful, soft colours and gentle light, superb shot. tfs Georgios

Beautiful intimate scene with these ducks .. all the careful details really add to the whole .. the flowers are great .. the tone as well .. wonderful image. Wonderfully done in the short moment you probably had to catch it.
Partha_c (2029) 2007-05-20 11:02
Hi Wilson. A very nice message conveyed through this shot. The female bird with her wings up approaching the male and made him blush.Though he was ignored initially but later was comforted. You nicely captured this action. Regards.
Cricri (107236) 2007-05-20 13:32
Yes une jolie scéne naturel et amusante....un cadrage au top, ainsi que la lumiére et couleurs

emjleclercq (15780) 2007-05-20 16:29
Very nice view of this confrontation. The posture is as agressive as it is intended to look. Good natural framing with the dafodils.
All the best,
pboehringer (770) 2007-05-21 16:00
LOL, the interaction is great and wel captured, Wilson. I wonder how many shots did you have to do to get this one. The duck at the left really seems to be quite impressed and leaning his head backwards. Funny shot and got at the right moment. It should be listed as decisive moment too.
deblink (2548) 2007-05-21 19:45
This is a great image of this duck family. Especially the nagging female, good on her, she is really haveing here say. Nicely framed and well composed image. Excellent.
pierrefonds (57461) 2007-05-22 15:57
A nice photo of the ducks, the photo has a good composition, sharpness and nice colors. Have a nice day.
MLINES (12516) 2007-05-22 18:24
Hi Wilson. Another good duck photo with plenty of action to make it emotive, the key to a good photo in my opinion, and stated by the National Geographic photographer who spoke at a Sony workshop here recently. Good work. Murray.
gunbud (34066) 2007-05-22 23:03
Wonderful humorous photo full of great details and amazing clear colors and light. This scene reminds me of my dear wife confronting himself after lingering too long at the local pub. I love the innocent bystander looks like our victims humble pub mate.
markstaples (15670) 2007-05-23 7:11
Another great nature shot caught at just the right moment. Again, nice and sharp and I love how the daffodils frame at the bottom.
josepmarin (57801) 2007-05-26 7:02
Caught well this scene, the female duck seems to be angry, and defends her aquatic territory against an intruder.
The photo is very dynamical, and is realized well, with good skill.
It's a pleasant work.
branley (3681) 2007-05-28 1:55
I think you've found your style, your nature shots have been a great success, none more so than this fine capture of the confrontational duck! The light and colours are wonderful, the timing is perfect and good sharpness too. A superb capture my friend, well done.
JCG (35129) 2007-05-30 14:30
The duck seems stoical in front of the large anger of the female. A very beautiful catch of sight which has to require a little patience well rewarded. The environment gives much value to the photograph, I like much. Qualities of the photograph are also very appreciable. Cheer Wilson.
With all my friendships and a good evening,
prumod (8300) 2007-06-07 12:26

I love this scene. Fighting ducks! Oh, yes!!!
pablominto (53744) 2008-12-03 3:05
The moment is well captured!
The interaction between the two birds is funny to us bystanders but it certainly has a meaning in their kingdom...
The scene is well framed and has good details, the vegetation in front gives the impression of a sneak-peak..!
