Photographer's Note

We had been in Grasmere all day and were on our way back to the B&B. The sun was low in the sky so we decided to take a detour round the back of Thirlmere, one of the lakes in the Lake District National Park. The main road goes along the other side of the lake and this was just a single lane road, that we had never used before. There weren’t many places to stop and we were thinking we were going to miss the light which was about to disappear behind the mountains behind me, when we found a small car park and stopped. There was just time to shoot a few frames and the light was gone. Most of the colour on the mountain is dead bracken, which is enhanced by the golden rays of the low sun.

I can’t find the car park on the map (link right)so I guess it is hidden by the trees. I just made a rough guess at the exact position, but it‘s near enough.
