Good Morning Everyone,
Today, my photograph shows evening light on Loweswater, one of the smaller lakes in the Lake District.
Although the weather forecast had been less than optimistic, it turned out to be a beautiful autumn day, just perfect for walking.
We had a great breakfast at our hotel, donned walking boots and walked the length of Loweswater until we reached the Kirkstile Inn, for a bit of needy refreshment!
As we walked back, the sun lowered in the sky, casting a golden hue on the hills and grasses. It was beautiful; the perfect ending to the day.
Some may argue that the photograph is a little soft.
I did sharpen it, but, to me, it lost its romantic appeal and appeared stark, so I returned it to its original state. Sometimes, we do over-sharpen beautiful images.
Best wishes from a sunny Lancashire, Bev :-)

Bonjour, chère Bev,
Merci de nous faire partager ce très beau paysage. La présence d'un personnage dynamise joliment la composition.
Un pur régal à contempler.

sweet note, well done.
and yes, sometimes its too easy to just hit the sharpen button isn't it.
good to let go sometimes too!
this is a fine horizontally layered photograph.
everything seems to move from the left to the right, or at least in my mind it does.
the light on the landscape is just something out of this world, only mother nature can provide.
the brocolli trees add a soft touch too.

Good morning Bev,
This is a splendid view from the Lakes, very well composed and with the figure sporting some bright red colour perfectly placed in the frame and adding greatly to the foreground interest.
The lighting us superb and the colours vibrant yet true. Your exposure is perfect and, yes, I agree, it is all too easy to oversharpen shots and this one, to me at least, appears to be sharpened just quite enough. My only criticism, and it's a small one at that, is that I think that there might be a little tilt to the left and that it might just benefit from 1° or 2° of clockwise rotation.
P.S. I see that you were wearing your polariser for this one! :o)

A very enticing image of a beautiful part of your country. Well done.

As summer ends and autumn colors begin to prevails, and mild light in afternoons - some may say it is "soft", rather enjoy a bit of "melancholic' tones that can make one dreams...
Like it a lot, the lake added fresh tone over the dry field in FG.
Have a nice afternoon,

I like this a lot, the light, the depth, the colors, the mountains. For me the strongest point is the person on the left, it reawakens in me the inner child who just wants to run off into the grass and disappear into the distance for an adventure :)
Thanks for sharing

had a day like this yesterday and I walked through the woods in Arundel Park, it was magic as I was virtually alone, just as I was for last night's sunset on the beach. The Lake District is magical at any time of the year, and I do wish it was closer, at this time of year it must be amazing and this shot just underlines that fact. Warm tones and a tranquillity that is palpable in this glorious image.

Lovely gentle light and autumnal colours - perfect! I think the solitary person with a touch of red is an important part of the composition. Your comment about over-sharpening is a good one and often grass in the FG of a landscape can look artificially sharp. I have been experimenting with using the negative clarity slider in LR and PSE and quite like the softening effects.
A gorgeous landscape - very well done.
Kind Regards, Ann

The view is certainly beautiful, and the light is great, and yet it's the person in red that first grabs my attention. Looking at the soft shapes of the mountains and the green and yellow hues of the trees i keep coming back to that person. Regarding the softness you point out I am of the opinion that technical perfection is never the only important aspect of a photo's quality.

This is a very beautiful landscape, a marvellous view over the mountains here. I really appreciate the inclusion of a person, he adds life and interest. The little red part would not even have been necessary, he would have added value just the same.

Hello Beverley ,
THis is a beautiful landscape . The presence of the walker is interesting to create a focal point in the large FG .

I like the warm sunlight over that landscape rusted by the autumn season. Attractive scene, well taken.
Enjoy a good evening.

this place is stunning and your compo is superb. Going from shadow into light, from beautiful grassy field to the impressive mountains and the hidden lake down there.. and then there's a man's figue bringing life into the scene with a cute bright red accent on his sack. Well done indeed, my compliments.

I've often heard about the Lake District and how beautiful it is but this shot shows how stunning the area is .lovely composition with a deep foreground of long grass softly lit by the afternoon sun and the dramatic mountain range in the background. Just beautiful .

this image is just right as it is. Too much sharpness can sometimes destroy atmospheres. I think it's very nice! A beautiful photo of a beautiful landscape.
Here in the Swedish-Norwegian border country there are areas that look a bit similar.
All the best

Good evening Bev,
A well composed landscape and even the solitary hiket attired in red adds a lot to the shot by providing scale, color contrasts and a focal point. Good sharpness and superb lighting and framing. The yellow green grass and foliage contrasts wonderfully against the blue sky. Have a nice weekend!

Hello Bev - Your note paints a picture of an idyllic weekend in the Lakes and your shot bears testament to the glorious day. Here I agree with you 100 percent, there is a dreaminess about the image and as far as I can see it is in no need of extra sharpening. So simple and so lovely. Warm regards rosemary

Un beau moment pour la balade, la lumière est belle, elle illumine en douceur le paysage qui est magnifique, bonne présence de la personne qui donne une évaluation de grandeur du paysage

A splendid landscape in a neat composition, beautiful plain in the foreground, with this high grass, the trees that show slightly the lake get a nice color, highlighting the background mountains, clean of vegetation, but form a harmonious whole, on a beautiful day with a nice light shade.
A perfect colorful natural.
A very bright image with optimum clarity.
Very well done. I love it.
Enjoy the weekend.

hi bev. i agree with you about your choice of softness here, this is more a romantic painting than a sharp landscape. it is great the luminocity your have on the bottom grass without overexposing the clouds and sky. the trekker with a red touch is the cherry of this beautiful photo, and he is indeed placed at the perfect location.
