Good Morning Everyone,
Winter trees and the Lake District, a lovely combination!
Despite the grey, misty day, there is always something beautiful to see in the lake District. Here, on the banks of Windermere, the trees were almost tickling the water's surface.
We walked about a mile from Wray Castle, seeking geocaches which had been hidden along the edge of the water. For those who do not understand 'geocaching' I will add a link here which is the National Trust link because we were on National Trust property.
Have a lovely day, Bev :-)
The co-ordinates will take you to the path entrance to Ray Castle but not beyond.

Hello Beverley, my neighbour today !
Very nice b&w capture from Cumbria. Good pov and layout.
Specially the tree at left leaning towards the watersurface creates a nice effect.
Nice framing and interesting notes.
TFS and have a nice day

Geocaching is a new one on me. Sounds as if it could be fun; just wonder what happens when some bright spark decides to move one or more of the caches to another location. But, who would do a thing like that:-) To return to your composition. I like the framing and point of view very much. Black and white was a good choice in the poor light conditions; it also helps accentuate the intricate tracery of the leafless branches against the white sky.

love the title of this shot. It sums up the view and beauty of this place so succinctly. It looks timeless in this monochrome image - spellbinding serenity!

Good evening Beverley,
I really like the B&W treatment with this composition. The stark bare branches are shown with sharpness and clarity against the backdrop of the misty peaks in the background whilst the rocks in the shallow waters edge give nice foreground interest.

Not usual of you a black and white picture, notwithstanding a very nice area.
But this is the choice of the photographer.
Perspective and depth care for a good picture.
Excellent composition, with a good sharpness and clarity.
Very well done, TFS.

J'aime beaucoup l'atmosphère qui se dégage de cette composition en noir et blanc. L'arbre semble faire la présentation du lac qui l'entoure. Le fait qu'il n'ait pas encore de feuilles permet de voir très loin.

hello Beverley ,
I understand that you've chosen the B&W because it was a grey day . The result is excllent , full of atmosphere . The picture is very well composed .

A beautiful view with the foreground tree hanging over the lake and providing a frame for the view of the background hills. Geocaching is something new to me, sounds interesting.

very well done, the big tree really attracts the eyes and the composition is well chosen. B&W works excellently. I also enjoyed reading the notes.

This photo certainly desn't convey the atmosphere of spring that we are all longing for (aren't we?), but it's a fine view of late winter. The branches of the tree still create an intricate pattern before they are covered with leaves, and the fine greyscale gives full justice to the light mist hanging over the lake. I had heard of geocaching but never tried it. But it sounds fun and could possibly convince some people to get out into the fresh air instead of staying home by the computer or TV.

Excellent winter depiction, with very good elements to provide shape and constrast. The complicated branches add a lot to the photo. Congratulations!

This works so well in monochrome! I actually prefer it to your previous (similar but colour) post. Again the composition with the thirdsy framing of the tree works a treat, and the only slight issue is the slightly wonky horizon line. But I'm not going to let that bother me!

Ciao cara Beverley

Despite the fact that monochrome doesn't seem to do as well on TE as colour, I really like this photo. The image is begging for B&W and you judged it well. The atmosphere is so spooky, even though you're shooting in broad daylight. I think you probably could have increased the contrast here, but that's a matter of personal choice, where I see that retaining the softness and naturalness has helped create the ethereal atmosphere. Nice work, thanks for sharing and a happy Saturday to you.
