Good Morning Everyone,
This photograph was taken on the bank of Windermere, in the Lake District.
It was quite a cool, overcast day but without much of a breeze, which might have blown the clouds away.
Despite that, there were a few intrepid sailors, full of determination, to sail their yachts. I love this attitude in people!
I waited, on the bank, until the yacht was situated under the arch of the beautiful, winter tree. (Anyone who knows me, knows that I love shape and detail of winter trees.) The yacht added an interesting b/g detail.
Have a lovely Saturday, Bev :-)

I thought this might be Windermere before I noticed the location text. It reminds me of some of the photos I took there a few years ago. Sails often make a pleasing highlight against the slopes. Here, you framed the boat very well with the tree, which appears to have some early Spring foliage. I wish you a pleasant Easter Saturday. Ours is heading rapidly into twilight; time to walk the dogs.

Ciao cara Beverley
Nitidezza e contrasto impeccabili.
Ciao, buon fine settimana e buona Pasqua

Inspite the grey clouds aloft, this lake offers many intriguing corner for photographers, Beverly.
managed a fine view between the branchs, to focal the lone sail-boat, and it is in good sharpness against the mist/fogy environment.
The moss on the tree-trunk indicates that not much sun penetratingh through, so the cloudy sky is not a surprise over there...
Enjoy a nice weekend,

living in a seaside town with it fair share of seafarers I can identify with this image and the motive. Being a landlubber I always admire the way people just take to the waters despite the weather, and in this setting can see why too! It is beautiful and composed impeccably.
Have a pleasant weekend - B.

Une belle composition. Le voilier est parfaitement placé dans l'image niché au milieu des branches protectrices de l'arbre. On sent tout de même le froid par ce temps gris.

From the angle you chose, it seems like not only do you like the attitude of the sailors here, but the trees do too, they seem to be craning around each other to get a better view of the action. Great idea to wait for the boat to reach this optimal place in the frame.
Thanks as always, and happy Easter.

Hi dear Berverly, how are you?
Sorry for my long no contatct with you due to several reasons. So cold and deserted atmosphere is so well presented by fnest light and color touch in the best framework. Very good an dkey accnet of small sailing boat over there.
All the best and have agood weekend! TAKERO

I hate to do this, but with very limited free time at the moment, please pardon my ‘copy & paste’ note. I really wanted to respond to as many as possible before this next week really gets away from me. With no time for details unfortunately, I can still say this image is one that I find quite enjoyable. :) All the best to you and yours for a Happy Easter. Take care.
Much appreciation for your note today, I'm honored that you thought my picture would be tops in the gallery.

Tight, strong composition, with the yacht well placed as you say. Pleasantly muted tones, which are unforced and natural. By the way, I've been out sailing 4 or 5 times this season so far: it's not really that intrepid if you've got the right kit on!

I notice that there are 10 different pictures here on TE from High Wray, and you have taken all of them yourself. Incredible that no other photographers have been here at this very beautiful place. All of your pictures from here are very good and in this one you have captured a boat far away and framed it with the branches of this close tree. Another very pleasant composition.

this looks like a peaceful place, ideal for be alone and thinking. It is cool and overcast but it gives a peaceful impression. Your patience on the bank was fruitful. The sailing boat have a good placement under the tree branches and it is also good natural colors, tfs!

I like very much the way you've framed the Windermere with the overhanging branches. It is a gray day, and apparently devoid of any winds, but the intrepid sailors are no doubt having fun, but cursing the lack of breeze and the limp sails.

i enjoyed your newest little pink house, but i had to come and investigate what 'determination' was :)
just goes to show the importance of a good title doesn't it! haha
i agree with you, the determination in some people is impressive - as with joggers who will jog in the pouring rain or freezing cold winds in winter - gotta admire that!
and yes, we know and appreciate your love for these rustic looking trees, i enjoy them aswell.
nice to see the boat out there and almost nobody else to be seen for miles :)
enjoy your day
