Good Morning Everyone,
I must apologise for my absence which has been due to a number of things, initially a strained wrist, then visiting family and lastly a few days away in the Lake District.
Our trip to Coniston, in the Lake District, was a delightful rest, even if the weather was not as sunny as we had hoped. Still, it didn't rain!
I took this shot near the jetty on Coniston Lake. There were lots of ducks, many with ducklings. This little boy was determined to make friends with one of them. The ducklings were amazingly tolerant or, maybe, they already associated people with food!
I hope to catch up with people as soon as possible.
Have a great day, Bev :-)

Hi Beverley. A sweet shot- both young and trusting. I hope that the strained wrist wasn't due to your activity on TE. Nice POV and timing of this precious moment. When one sees scenes like this, one still has hope for mankind.best wishes. Klaudio.

A very nice picture with the little boy in an eye-catching red shirt, playing with the ducklings. A very pleasant picture!

Geez, I'd almost given up on you! Still, it's nice to know that you're now back and I do hope that your strained or sprained wrist is on the mend - that'll teach you not to fight with Len ever again. Is Len's chin all right?
What a gorgeous photograph from your Cumbrian travels! How sweet that this little boy wants to make friends with these cute little ducklings - and how tolerant of mum (not his - the ducklings' mum) not to create a fuss at the sight of him doing so. In fact, mum (the ducklings') just seems to be scrabbling away on the shoreline looking for food while dad (the ducklings') simply bobs up and down in the water in the distance.
A beautiful shot which really captures the joy of innocent youth, almost like an illustration from an Enid Blyton book when we were kids. The fact that we cannot actually see the boy's face adds to the interest and we can still see a strong visual connection between the gaze of the little boy and the ducklings at his feet. And - and this will really appeal to Gunnar - just look how that bright scarlet shirt of the boy stands out fabulously against the soft natural colours of the background scene.
A very well timed and captured shot with fine composition, lovely soft light, fine colours and exceptional details and sharpness.

This is a wonderful photo of attempts at friendship between innocent small ones of different kinds. I wonder what happened if the boy actually managed to touch, or even hold, the duckling. You have captured the boy's fine gesture as he is leaning down, and it's easy to imagine his excitement. His red shirt and ginger hair create a superb contrast to the neutral, slightly dull tones of the water and pebbles. It's a very charming photo.

Les canards britanniques sont beaucoup moins nerveux que les nôtres d'après ce que je peux voir.Même la mère laisse les enfants approcher sa progéniture. Mais on voit que les intentions du jeune homme sont gentilles.

hope your wrist is recovered enough to give Len a clip round the lughole if he needs it!
Red! The photographers choice when it comes to providing a visual focal point with interest - an effect you achieve well here with this composition.

a very charming image in every sense. Very nice daily life scene, I guess the little boy did not notice the photographer. As already mentioned before, the red shirt is the icing on the cake! My compliments also for the notes; I am crossing my fingers for a speedy recovery!

Good to get some fresh GOOD news about you!
the scene is very interesting as we are directed to the red Tshirt and then follow his vision to discover 2 small ducks. Apparently, they are not wild ones, generally the mother duck is very close to her children and don't let anybody come close.
My best souvenirs

Good evening Beverly,
Curious kid reach to grab a chick - wonder what the duck big-mamma thinking about.
Fine picture soft-skin texture under mild light.

I like very much this scene, it seems it was captured with superb timing, we instantly catch up with the story and the attitudes of the two new friends. The little boy's posture, concentration and red shirt attract our interest in a dynamic way. I wonder whether cropping just above the duck on the right would give the scene more intensity. The textures and the colour management are marvellous. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

Great to have you back, I had been wondering where you wandered off to?? :) Sorry to hear about your wrist, I sure hope it's better now after some time away from the keyboard....and we certainly don't want you risking your shutter finger in conjunction. :)
What a cute scene and moment you came across here, I imagine both the ducks and this young boy were having a wonderful time "playing' together. It's an endearing connection between nature and youthful curiosity.
On the technical side, his red shirt really stands out against the earthy tones of the composition, and all of which has your standard of quality detail and focus. Ducks and kids just wading through he waters...yep, a fun one! :) Enjoy the new day. All the best.
macjake (67532) 2014-07-04 0:13
yes, its nice to have you back.
I was actually wondering where you went off to!
glad to hear everything seems to be back into action, and its not too serious.
Being able to take photos and critique on TE are most highly important activities :) haha
looking at this one, you could have cropped the scene juse above the red shirt and it still would have been just as effective.
hwo could this NOT bring back fond memories as a young child...we all did this sort of thing right? I know I did. you delivered a scene that we can all relate to, thats why its' going to be enjoyed so much :)
love the red shirt, it stands out perfectly as a focal point. Oh to be young again :)

Ah! that's the joy of happy childhood memories, what summer is all about and this looks fun nice to see kid enjoying and learning himself as the same time. Love this very natural shot with deep concentration enjoying the simple pleasures of nature and he is completely unaware that he is the focus of your lens going in close. This is beautifully composed, brilliant detail wonderful bright stunning colour and light as this photo gives a very very warm feeling....
Simple delight and pleasure to view. Congrats

I guess summer makes most of us more busy than winter and also I cannot find that much time for TE now, yet it is nice to see each other from time :) This picture is especially cute and full of charm. The little boy bending with child curiosity over little duckling makes lovely scene. I like his bright red top contrasting with the settings.
Nicely framed, with natural colors and excellent sharpness.
Thanks for sharing

A beautiful capture of one moment in time that the little boy will remember.

Hello Bev - Isn't the kind of scene that special childhood memories are made from? The simple inquisitiveness of children is so special and this charming shot encapsulates that. Such a pleasure to see this... away from the TV, the computer and the trappings of modern life and back to the simple and special moments!
Lovely, evocative work.

No wonder everybody is liking this one :-). Perfect moment captured and with excellent photo qualities. You couldn't have found a better subject for a picture that is candid and visually appealing at the same time.
Thanks for sharing and have a nice day.

Perfect timing and layout.

It is a very cute photo with a carrot-head (meant in all good humor) and two fuzz balls. I am more surprised by the fuzz balls' parents' behavior, after all, the ducklings may not have learned to fear humans yet.
PS. I am glad to surmise that your wrist fells better.
