Tresco is the second-largest of the Isles of Scilly, a beautiful archipelago of islands lying some 45 km off Land's End, Cornwall. But second-biggest is still quite small: Tresco is only about 4 km long and 2 km wide. Around 150 people are permanent residents of the island, mostly living in the twin settlements of Old and New Grimsby, on opposite sides of the island. Of course in the Summer the population is swollen by tourists. Apart from a little fishing and small-holding farming, tourism is the island's staple income.
I imagine the girl paddling in this photograph is a holiday-maker, enjoying the beautiful waters of the bay.

A very attractive image. It looks tropical. Terrific clarity with fine detail ranging from foreground to distant buildings. Perfect composition and well-timed with the girl kicking the water.

We don't see many pictures from the Scilly Isles very often here - islands where I believe the late Harold Wilson used to like to holiday - but this is a very fine picture made all the more appealing by the inclusion of some human interest in the form of the young lady dipping her toes into the water.
A stunningly clear and sharp picture, much better appreciated in its larger version on "beta" TE, well composed and with fine natural colours and excellent composition.
An interesting and informative note too.

What a beautiful summer scene here! All look so wonderfully and made the view so attractive. You have achieved both great composition as well as an excellent quality of the image. Well done! TFS!

Wow on this, I would never have thought this was Grimsby, the water looks like something from the Seychelles or some such place. Love that you timed this so well for the lady raising her foot and splashing about too, it does give a very playful feel the shot, adding to the feeling of this being a warm and tropical holiday destination.

Une belle prise de vue de cet endroit magnifique où la couleur de l'eau est superbe. La présence de la fille ajoute à la composition. Très bien fait.

wow, what a shot. Just love how you composed it, like the tonal quality of it. Great depth and sharpness. The view of the white boats in such blue water is just fabulous. Excellent one. Tfs.

You managed to capture the moment perfectly, the little bit of action with the girl kicking the water gives an attractive harbour scene that little bit of extra interest.
She is really well placed in a sound composition.
Thanks for the visit.

this is such a beautiful beach. I can't believe it is UK! I guess the trick is you have to have a good luck to get a weather like this over there... The sky is spotlessly blue or actually it has a hint of purple. It contrasts well with the green water of the sea. Nice that you included some vegetation in the foreground, and the girl enjoying the water adds a very charming touch here. I guess she was hoping that the weather is warm but she jumped away feeling how cold it is.

This is a great shot that I didn't see before. I love the colors and the small boats and the rather strong Mediterranean atmosphere. And this is Cornwall! The girl carefully testing the temperature of the water must have cut her hair slightly before going to Poland. :-)

I sailed from the French Brittany to these islands in August 1974 with my wife and 4 friends, stayed a few days to visit all the islands before leaving and reaching the South West of Ireland. Nice turquoise waters invitating to swimming, but the water temperature is rather cold!
have a lovely day
