Good Morning Everyone,
Something just a little different this morning.
This shows the interior, rather than the exterior of an old car that we saw at a wonderful vintage car rally.
Apart from showing you the obvious, I just wanted to portray the atmosphere at one of these rallies. You will be able to see the array of cars (just a small section, I assure you) and the number of enthusiasts milling round. We have all said how difficult it is to take a good photograph without other people drifting into the shot!
The Car Rally was held at Gawsworth Hall, Cheshire. It is a cracker of a rally if you ever manage to get there and is usually held in May.
Have a lovely weekend, Bev :-)

Excellent photo and great sharpness. The more colourful cars in the background create a nice contrast with the dark car interior. The man in the mirror is a nice inclusion!

Fine shot from the inside of this old car. It looks great and also weird for us used to the comfort of nowadays technology.
Have a nice weekend.

nice idea to shot from the inside looking out and I have to admit I an amazed at all the dials and such in this old car, I guess it would have been a technological marvel in its day. Great way to capture the spirit of the festival

an original idea and I like it a lot. We get a real sense of how driving nowadays is a doddle compared to this old beauty of an auto-mobile. I really like how you captured a mini-portrait shot in the wing mirror too! Not sure if that was intentional but it is a wonderful addition to the impact of the image.
Enjoy your weekend - B.

J'aime beaucoup ces expositions de vieilles voitures en plein air.On peut les prendre sous tous les angles en prenant notre temps et en jasant avec le propriétaire. Toujours surprenant de voir le volant du mauvais côté.

I don't really share some other members' enthusiasm of old cars, but this photo is different, and quite amusing. We get an interesting and rare look inside one of these old cars and a good glimpse of the show at the same time. There are always new angles to be found at any event.

haha...its so funny that you captured the mans face in the side mirror!
not sure if that was intentional or just pure luck and perfect timing :)
they don't make cars like these anymore.
I was just commenting to Ray, that i'll probably be going to a car show today :)
so its fun to look at these car shots now. gives me lots of inspiration and excitement!
thanks for this one

your idea is original and you realized it very effectively. There's wonderful sense of depth, attractive elements and details are marvelously dispersed all over. You achieved excellent definition both in the interior of the car and in the packed setting which works as a fascinating backdrop. There really is much information regarding the style of the cars and the rally's atmosphere. The colours are very pleasant. I love the little "portrait" in the side mirror. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,

Great idea, you certainly changed it up a bit and have provi ded an alternative viewpoint. Not being much of a "car guy" myself, I can still appreciate their beauty and historical significances, and this concept takes on a newlevel of interest with a look inside. Far from modern dashboards, this is undoubtedly taking a little trip back in time...amazing how much simpler things were back in the day, no fancy lights and displays. Looks like someone was still trying to make their way into your shot however, the rear view mirror shows a curious participant. :) Now, if only the steering wheel were on the proper side of the vehicle!? lol Have a wonderful weekend. Take care.

How nice to include a lovely portrait of your husband in this picture! :o)
And what a clever way to take an interesting shot of an old car rally and avoid having to battle against and through the crowds of people who always seem to block your view.
A well thought out and composed photograph which provdes an excellent view of the interior of this car as well as the wider view of the rally field with a lovely variety of cars of different ages and colours.
P.S. I'm not sure the make of this car (do you know?) but it's probably from around about the 1920s - probably the early 1920s. Most cars at that time had (like this one) the accelerator pedal between the clutch and the brake. I see it also has a "split" windscreen and that was fairly common on Humbers and Crossleys and a few other makes. What I don't like is the hub of that steering wheel - it was the two levers for mixture stregth (i.e. a choke) and ignition advance/retard - but someone's bodged something else (probably the horn button) by fixing a modern switch to the hub with a red wire coming out of it - surely they could have found (or have made) a more convincing replacement!

A well composed and very detailed combination picture of the interior of this car with the busy fuss outside around the other vintage cars.
An atmospheric and very colourful shot.
Best regards, Paul

You are right, it is rare to see interiors of cars. This also shows that while design of classic cars is often beautiful, it is usually back to basics inside without much luxury.
It is a busy scene outside, good to see that illumination is in balance in and out. Face in the mirror is a nice detail.

According to the dashboard look, deprived of any valve radio set, ladies onboard this vintage car dated of the late twenties had to sing "Ramona" louder than the engine noise! Nowadays DAB radio broadcasts take over those out-of-tune performances!
Nostalgic piece of history, indeed!

Hello Beverley. Classic cars are fascinating. There must be a special feeling, so to drive around. Inside, the world is different than outside. But I think the admiration is mutual.
