The Open Road.
The UK suffers badly from traffic congested. But there are still areas where the freedom of the open road can be found. Like here, Windgather Rocks near Macclesfield, just a few minutes from where I live.

In the far distance is the major city of Manchester - where there will be heavy traffic congestion, even on this apparent quite Sunday afternoon...

This photo evokes the spirit of the countryside... winding roads, old stone walls, and yes, the menacing urbanisation in the distance. The wide angle view is superb, that is a great lens. The only fault with the photo is that it appears over-sharp, in my humble opinion only.

Hi David,
Superb light and good framing with the perspective.

Hi David, this is a nicely composed shot with the road guiding the eye into the picture and the fence posts adding some foreground interest. There is a small dark spec in the clouds, in the middle-right area of the sky which could be removed (it was probably a bird).

Lovely composition David. I like all the lines, walls, grass, road etc leading into the distance and the nice subdued colours.
I agree that you may have over cooked the sharpening on the edges a little here.

Hi David
Nice composition with the road leading the eye - I love this kind of scenery- I'm coming over with my bike now! The wall and fence and also the trees on the right look a bit sharp to me, gives a harsh feel to the otherwise tranquil scene. Also, just my personal view but I'm not so keen on the frame with its shading on one side. Although it doesn't really distract from the image, it has a tacky feel, sorry!

I like the POV and colours here - very natural :)

Beautiful landscape, very good composition with the fence and the road... Excellent depth !
Beautiful light and colors, too.
Well done !

Hi David - this is not the kind of image that pops into one's head when someone mentions Manchester. Very relaxing view, excellent light and colours, looks like great road to drive, cycle or walk on.

David,
Lovely photograph. The traveler in me wants to walk down and explore. I especially like the composition with the road to the far right. Well done.
