Photographer’s Note

Gawsworth Churchyard - capturing the light.
A little light fog with sunshine creates some great lighting conditions - The weather was perfect this day - and I spend a frustrating morning in the office waiting for lunchtime to try to capture the lighting... here's my second photo taken during the session.

It is coming onto winter time and those of us in the northern hemisphere are faced with the challenge of finding worthy subjects under conditions that may at times be challenging. You have done very will with this capture David. You work with the light in black and white to highlight the shapes of these tomb stones and trees. The mood fits the place and the climate of the day. Details are nicely rendered and the composition is first rate with the tree on the left foreground framing the subject, as our eye moves more deeply into the scene toward the tree that appears to be dancing in the distance. Well done.

the mood here is incredible..
ilove the way the light streaks through the branches of the tree
the silhouttes of the tombstones andthe trees add so much mystrey here.
all you miss is a person kneeling in front of one of the tombstones..
great atmosphere

David, I also love photographying cemeteries, I think there so much emotion to capture.
I love this photo, it has a very special feeling and atmosphere, you have captured the scene perfectly with beautifull shadows, good light and perfect composition. I see why sohrab wants a person in this photo, but for me there is so much human values and feelings here, the image looks for me like a gathering of tombs with souls, so I don't miss an alive person.
