Photographer’s Note
Ely is the third smallest city in the UK. It is a beautiful historic city in the heart of the Fens and along with its beauty and heritage comes the quintessential quaintness of daily life. You will find no one here is in a rush.
This is a small tea room situated by the Great River Ouse and adjacent to the this tea room is a marina.

Hi Brigit,
The doors are symbolically ajar, rendering them sooo... inviting. I will take tea but hold the cream! I have two questions. First, what population serves as the cutoff between a city and a town? Second, a question that my own response above generated. In some areas of England, they will pour milk in before the tea, and in other areas, tea before the milk. I once heard the explanation that the household staff serving the aristocracy preferred to pour the milk in first, so that the tea would not stain the cup. Do you have a better explanation than the socio-economic one that I just related?
Warm regards,
Bulent
