Interesting question. I think some official spaces should be allowed by the municipalities for graffitis, they are a form of art I think, but should not be allowed on public/private property.
But frankly, Leilani, I don't get this photo. It's rather bland, and overexposed, the 3D looking "thing" does not save it in my eyes. Sorry for being harsh, but I really think you can do much better, this has a feeling of lazy work...:-).
Take care

Hi Leilani - at first I was in two minds about this shot. I couldn't understand why the spray can was so sharp yet the floor considerably less so. Then I read your note to Merline re the plastic sheet and it all makes sense. Maybe a cm or so taken off the left side would throw the spray can right into the sweet spot. As for the composition, fine, it tells a story, it leaves you wondering.

Hello Leilani, you must be enjoying yourself being around all the writers, breathing the fumes, and watching their extraordinary minds go to work, with their characters and photorealisms and pieces and tags and fat laces.. :-) And it must be a task trying not to fall over all the empty Buntlack and Montana and Rustoleum cans littered around the place ;-)
In some ways this shot is empty, but it is a tool of the trade and a good documentary as you said of the work going on. It's kinda still and cold this one, but no doubt when you can display the rest the colour will flow over the brim. Perhaps a little more of the side of the can wouldn't have gone a miss here?
Funnily enough next week I will be photographing at the Bazaart event up here. Should be fun... and Good luck to you :)

Very nice! I read your reply to Merline, and i must say i totally agree with you. I don't see anything lazy in here. The thing is that many people want too see a direct emotion, like a close-up of someone or an oversaturated landscape. But here at least you were very different than the usual picture uploaded every minute here on TE. I can't find another picture like this that has a story, a nice composition, an interesting angle, an artistic side, a unique look... but for 95% of the other pictures on TE, i can find in a second somethig very similar.
So, keep up the good work.
Edgar
