Up to end X of a century this district, as well as a Kreschatik, name Perevesesch also represented wood thrickets. Hardly above, where the street Sofievskaja nowadays begins, were Lyadsk's gate which conducted in the Top city, and after reorganization of the area have been erected above the ground. In territory of the modern area of Independence in XVIII century have been constructed stone serf Pechersky gate existed till 1833. In the end XVIII - the beginning of XIX century the area represented waste ground - Goats a bog.
In 30th years here there were the first wooden, and in 50th years - stone constructions.
Till 1871 on the area which are referred to at that time Krechatsky, fair was placed, circus representations were given, there were national entertainments. The first big brick building has been built in 1851. In 1876, after a construction of a building of a municipal duma, the area has received the name Duma.
In March, 1919 it have renamed in Soviet, and per 1935 - into the area of Kalinin. In 1922 the monument to Charles Marx here has been established. In one of premises of a municipal duma some time there was N.I.Murashko's Drawing school.
In 1976-81 the area has been reconstructed. And per 1977 it have renamed into the area of October Revolution.
And after disintegration of the USSR the area has received the modern name - the area of Independence (Майдан Незалежності). In 2000-03 capital reorganization of the area has been made. Here 3 lines of a trading complex "Globe" were placed.

This is a very fine night photo. You have managed to capture the blue hour nicely blending natural and artificial lighting. The photo is very sharp with good DOF. The colors are great and well illuminated.
