Prypiat is an abandoned city in the Zone of alienation in northern Ukraine, Kiev Oblast. It was home to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant workers. The city was abandoned in 1986 following the Chernobyl disaster. Its population had been around 50,000.

Hi Andrzej, that's quite a disturbing scene you've captured there. The desaturation works well. You can almost see the 'ghosts' clinging to the carriages...

Witaj Andrzeju!
Gratuluję i pozdrawiam Paweł.

Haunting shot Andrzej, full of atmospere and good notes too. I assume it is safe to go back there now! Not a place I would like to visit! TFS, Roberto

Wow! that looks really eerie. Perfect for a B/W post. Thanks for sharing.

Best regards,

Rob

Maybe the most touching of all your Chernobyl shots, Andrzej. The great instruments of amusement left to rust. Impressive. Can anyone visit this place now? Are the radiation levels safe? -Hugh

o kurcze, to jest masakryczne... Martwe miasto i karuzele... świetna reporterka
Pozdrawiam

P.S.
Zabieram je:)

The wheel is the same as in my city! I could take it for my home city but it isn't. The difference is the dead Merry-Go-Round... We don't have even a live one near the wheel.

Hi Andrzej,

impressive image, it well shows this tragedy, first of all with its contrast between fun and death.

Another great shot of this town
Thanks for sharing

Hi Andrzej,

A seldom seen part of the world...an eerie and moving image. Great choice of b/w to enhance the mood of life and death to me, of the neglect of human beings in both ways: the ones who have suffered here, and the ones who did not care for all the sordid reasons we know.

Thank you. Great work

in the computer game S.T.A.L.K.E.R you can actually walk around in that place. Creepy :)

I see there are not many photos of that place in Trekearth. Maybe people are afraid to go there... But I think the amount of radiation we get everyday with our cell phones and televisions, could even be higher than being in that place now.

Anyway, good shot and nice composition.

Great shot, Andrzej. You've caught the spooky deserted atmosphere very well in this B & W composition. There's real irony in this overgrowned, abandoned Fun Park that should've been a place of entertainment. Good work!
Regards,
Ryno
