Golden domes of Pecherska Lavra Photo

Photographer’s Note

Kiev Pechersk Lavra, also known as the Kiev Monastery of the Caves, is a historic Orthodox Christian monastery in Kiev, Ukraine. Since its foundation as the cave monastery in 1051 the Lavra has been a preeminent center of the Eastern Orthodox Christianity in Eastern Europe. It is also one of the four UNESCO World Heritage Sites within Ukraine.

On the foreground of my picture you see a a golden domes of the Cathedral of Dormition from XI century, unfortunatelly destroyed in World War II and fully reconstructed in recent years and in the background Great Lavra Bell Tower constructed in 1731-1745.

Normally the sky lights gives an under exposure , but if you used HDR system you made a great job.
Very good contrast and good shape.
We are able to appreciate the details of the church.

Très belle image en contre-plongée ! Ces dômes dorés sont impressionnants ! On a l'impression qu'ils sont plaçés sur l'image comme en 3D !

Na Ukrainie by³em. I to w wielu miejscach. Jednak w samym Kijowie nie by³em. Niesamowite kolory. Bardzo ³adna kompozycja. Ciekawy pomys³. Te kopu³y przedstawiaj± siê znakomicie.

Excellent POV that captures these five stunning domes that contrast beautifully with the cloudy sky. The details to the intricate designs of the stone carvings are wonderfully seen.
The colors are very clear with excellent sharpness to this wonderful composition.

My father's father was ukrainian but I haven't had the chance to visit that Country YET!
However, in this wonderful site I can have a closer contact to the place with such beautiful photographs: very nice low pov, excellent sharpness and colors! The building is extremely interesting and beautiful, a fine example of superb architecture!
