Photographer’s Note

I took this picture in a Culture Center "Energetik" in an abandoned, after disaster of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, city Pripyat. Because the accident was in 26 April (1986), before evacuation of Pripyat day after disaster, everything was prepared in this town for 1st May parade and to this day left there banners with communist symbols and kitschy portraits of soviet heroes. Visit there is a little step to the time that hopefully goes by.

Zawsze przejmujace sa takie swiadectwa historii.. stracenia z piedestalu glorii i chwaly.. twarze dzialaczy niedzisiejszych, co juz nikt nie pamieta ile dobrego a moze zlego zrobili? Slawa, chwala i potega.. ulotne jak nic..Zdjecie z bardzo ciekawa anegdota!

Z perspektywy czasu niektóre sprawy i wydarzenia wydaj± siê byæ b³achszymi, ni¼li by³y w rzeczywisto¶ci. Dzisiaj to historia, a ca³e rzesze nowych glosicieli jedynie s³usznych prawd zapisuj± ju¿ jej nowe karty...

Must have been a mixed emotion for you remembering the past when taking this photo. The chaotic arrangement seems to reflect the condition of the evacuation. Well captured and presented. Well done! tfs

An interesting and an a bit thoughtful making picture - and a document! Not many photographers would have pressed the button - you dit! There still seem to be a lot of people who bemoan the loss of this insantiy!

No, tak. U nich tych wszystkich medali itp. s± ca³e masy. W koñcu zamiast kasiory dostawali po medalu... I dzwonili orderami. Oj, dzwonili! Ciekawie, ¿e przypominasz stare czasy.
