Photographer's Note

In the background of the picture you can see Svyato-Troitska (Trinity) church (XVII century) located at the central part of the urban village of Bilovodsk (its name is from Bila Voda meaning White Water), the administrative centre of Bilovodskiy Rayon in Luhanska Oblast of Ukraine. The church’s architectural style is rather unique. Such type of religious architecture can be seen only in Saint Petersburg, Venice and there, as Russian Wikipedia says.

Nice shot Sergiy, with a clear contrast between the gleaming church and Lenin's rusty back. I wonder how he would feel, seeing the disparity...

This would be interesting to see in a vertical format as well, removing the greenery from the right side of the frame.

Hello Sergiy,

With red statue of Lenin on a column, I wondered for a minute whether it might not be Yalta. But in Yalta, there is a far more elegant church behind Lenin's statue, rather than in front. Your fine note, however, clears up the mystery. I am curious whether with passing time the statues of Lenin will eventually fade away, or will they be restored, reflecting the stressed economy and the dissolution of the former Soviet Union?

un titolo ironico per una immagine chiara e pulita, costruita prospetticamente con maestria con la statua di Lenin decentrata sulla sinistra.
La chiesa appare nel suo splendore candido e il delicato celeste delle tre cupole.

Hello Sergiy,
nice the balance of the scene with the statue on the left as the dome of the church on the right outlined perfect against the blue of the sky.
I like the great contrast of the colours as the light management of the image.

Vraiment merveilleuse cette église tout de blanc vêtue coiffée de bleu. l'architecture est de toute beauté et les échafauds de rénovation ne nuisent pas trop à la photo. Excellente qualité d'image, bel environnement et merveilleux contraste avec le beau ciel bleu.

Hello Sergiy,
a wonderful and very intriguing composition that makes a point in a delicate but effective way. The statue is marginalized and shadows are creeping behind it. The view is open for us to observe the church under renovation, elegant and luminous in the strong light. The trees complete the composition very nicely, their natural tones and textures are quite pleasing. Lighting is wonderful and the framing makes the subtle comment more effective.
