Photographer's Note

This is the last kilometer on the way up to the edge of the Crimeas biggest plateau Karabi Yayla (Qarabiy Yayla in Crimean Tatar language). The place where the road from the seaside village of Privetnoe (skt, about 10 km from there) goes up to the plateau is called Bolshie Vorota (Great Gates, Balaban-Qanu). In the picture you can see the right "post" of the gate. Height of this place above sea level is about 950 m, the average height of the plateau being around 1000 m. The highest summit of Karabi Yayla is Tay-Koba, 1262 m.
