Photographer’s Note
Village of Volodimirovka near Krasnokutsk was the third stop of our two-day bike trip over old Ukrainian estates in Kharkiv oblast. In this village old estate of Natalivka is situated. The estate was named by its owner, wealthy sugar manufacturer Ivan Kharitonenko, after his grand daughter Natalia. The main house of the estate has been lost, but its landscape park, entrance gate and church have remained.
This Svyato-Preobrazhenska (Holy Transfiguration) church (1911 – 1913) was designed by Aleksey Shchusev, Russian architect known in particular as the author of Lenin’s Mausoleum.

Zdravo Sergiy. I never tire of looking at orthodox churches from Russia and the Ukraine. To my eyes they are exotic and an emblem of the east.In addition, they are inevitably graceful and uplifting. Even a smaller one like this one looks charming. beautiful stone carvings and icon, not to mention the domes.Regards. Klaudio.

Hi Sergiy,
Unusual roof colours but very attractive here, I admire your composition with this off-centre POV. Interesting place! Also interesting to see that this is not far from Poltava, where Sweden lost the battle nearly exactly 300 years ago!
Kind regards
Gunnar

Hi Sergiy!
Very nice church, typical of the oriental style! I like the two pointed cupolas: One dark blue and its little golden sister on the left, the colour of which comes out very well against the greenery! The turquoise tiles give a great effect too!
Unusual for us westeners!
TFS. I hope you are enjoying a great holiday!
Marie Louise.
