Photographer’s Note

See the last pictures about this race if you want to know something else. Here we are the "Patrouille des Glaciers" in action, from Zermatt to Verbier. We are in one of the mainly control post of this ski alpinism race. We are at 2800m hight, under 0° (-14°).
The racers has began to ski late (or early, as you want to think). The first one has start at 22:00 pm, and has ski all night, make 30Km, passing over a summit at 3700m hight, with strong wind, and temperatures under -30°. Still they have to ski 28Km more or less, and pass over a summit at 3300m hight...crazyes?...it's up to you to think what you want, but in any way is incredible to see them pass. If you wants a challenge, you can begin with the little race..."only" 28Km with 1900m up rise, and a summit at 3300m.

Une belle image de reportage, certainement pas facile à réaliser dans ces conditions, mais qui montre bien l'ambiance qui règne dans cette course. Ca me rappelle de bons souvenirs de ma participation il y a 10 ans!

Un sujet intressant pour nous autres montagnards. Pour du 1250 iso, c est plutot bien. Ces coureurs ont l 'air heureux et insouciants. Beau reportage. Geraldine

veig que no t'estàs de res, fotos de dia, undergrouns i ara una cursa de nit... i una mica de fred que transmet molt bé el corredor Brrrrrrrrrrrr! Aquest "trasto" que et gastes ara sembla que val la pena, oi? jejeje ;P

Bé, ens truquem en uns dies que estem acavant de lligar com fer el viatge, no sabem si venir en globus o en patinet... és que si venim esquiant (ja saps que la Maite és una gran esquiadora) farem via massa ràpid!!

hi javier
this is fun. i like the use of light to its optimum level. you have captured a really good mood. the bold and raising mountain at the background although a bit faded adds drama to the shot. good work done...

My hats off to these people for taking on such a challenge for not only do they test their endurance during this race but for all the times they have to train for the race.

Salut Javier,

J avais raté quelques photos ces derniers jours, et je me rends compte que tu as une tres belle serie sur la patrouille des glaciers. Ici, tu as tres bien exploité les possibilites de ton boitier pour une image reussit alors que techniquement difficile.
Pourquoi n as tu pas utilisé le trepieds que l on voit dans la photo ;-)
Je suis un peu surpris que tu n aies pas eu plus de visite pour cette belle photo de reportage. Les mysteres de TE...
