Photographer’s Note
I though it would be nice to gratify you with an autumnal raven to complement my previous gastronomic “hanging ducks”. I’ll take the risk that one of you smart guys tell me I better go post my photos in Trek Nature or Trek Food, whatever. This is very typical of the Swiss pace, or at least that’s how I feel it. Hello Gal,
I like this strange feeling that gives to me this photo! It is very impressive shot with the blur parts and the black bird maybe "thinking" or waiting for the next pigeon...

Bonjour Gal,

I cannot help thinking this would be a tremendous cover for a Poe compilation...
...But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only,
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered - not a feather then he fluttered -
Till I scarcely more than muttered `Other friends have flown before -
On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before.'
Then the bird said, `Nevermore.'
Superb capture of this mysterious friend, burnt by the sun... lovely vignetting and a precious mood that it all gives.
Great to see your posts again, Gal.

No other bird could make this photo better and deeper than the raven itself, the most intelligent bird of all, full of mysticism...perhaps there is no human being that haven't felt a bit strange in a presence of a craw. I really like this one Gal.
Trek Food, that was a funny one :-)

ha ha ha, trek food, had to lough when I saw that.
This photo visually just works, for me it doesn't have this special emotional appeal that on many occasions I look for and what usually attracts me the most, but with superb composition, flow to the photo, technically spot on, I really can't find anything to complain about, a winner.

Very poetic photograph. As usual. A real Gal if I may say so. No, I don't want you posting in TN nor TF... they don't know about poetry there... The exposure on the raven - always a so literary subject - is perfect and the B&W conversion - a thing I learn to do from you - is very gentle too. I like it a lot!

Luis sums up my feelings on this quite well, its not just a photo of a bird in nature which you'd expect to see on TN, theres a lot more to it, a lot of emotion brought across with the black and white and a lot of strength shown in the bird against teh white background.

Hi Gal, I wouldn't dream of suggesting this should be on treklens, far more to do with the seasonal urban environment than just the bird. Fine use of B&W. Oops, I've been busy here today for the first time in months.

Hi Gal, a melancholic mood I'd say... I was about to cite Poe, but Sasa has already done it... anyway, he doesn't look sinister, just melancholic and somehow "detached"...

Hola,
Javier

Hi Gal,
In some way it just perfectly fits the Lonely Planet shot. Guess it's the way you desaturate, just one subject and then the curve in it. Nice one again!
Nope, on TrekNature they want to be able to count feathers. On TrekLens, the bird has to look a bit silly into the lense and smile (joking!). Fits well here this shot. ;-)

Hello Gal,
Bon w-e

Such a simple object but so difficult to pull off right! I have tried this several times in the past, failing each time. This one works. A rueful, sad image somehow. Beautiful tonality.

Bonsoir Gal,
Cordialement
Michèle
