A dance party in Switzerland wasn't too different to a dance party at home, despite the language barrier. The MC still made no sense to me in what he was shouting, and drugged ravers made just as much sense to me as they did at home as they shout in my ear in German.
I must also add that I have a real love for seeing languages I can't understand while travelling (anything other than English), which is probably the main reason for this shot. |

Hi Brendan,
You focused more on the blue effectgs and whats written up there.......but my personal opinion is that you should have shown us the face of the singer too.
You have tried it well ,but the shot lacks that dramatic effect, which you were looking for.
Give another try.

Hi Brendan, i like a lot the singer in the middle of the words...like a shadow...
He breaks well the background and i like a lot the graphic impact of this image..
the composition is good to give more importance to the white words..
i like it
ciao!

exposure superbly managed, I have to admit that I cannot translate it very well, german is not really my cup of tea and it seems to be something quite strange, nice decisive moment BTW...

It could have been a photo for a music mag ...
It is a shame that there is not enough side lighting to reveal more the silhouette. The writing really standouts from the deep blue bg. The silhouette is maybe to low in your framing imha. Overall good catch.
Great shot Brendan. Love your POV, creating the almost silhouette of the DJ against the great bright blue of the neon. Perfect exposure, showing some good detail in teh shadows bot not blowing out any of the highlights. Perfect color and composition.
Nice work.

- coming back after reading some of the comments here:
...I like the lack of detail in the man's face. There is just enough to see his sunglasses and braclets...anything more may have blown the darker type mood here. As it is, I get the sense of being in a NY club or beach rave.
...the silhouette is low, but reading your note, you are trying to show the words more than the actual singer, making the singer just a "background in the foreground" in you know what I mean. It works well, not blocking any of the words too badly yet really showing this is a stage backdrop.
