Photographer's Note
This photo is a detail of contrasting shapes between the round columns on the main entrance of geneva’s cathedral, St-Pierre, and the rectangular facade of one of the buildings in the square in front of the cathedral (Cour St-Pierre).
Built between 1160 and 1289, St Peter’s Cathedral is surprisingly small. Even more surprising is its combination of Romanesque, Gothic, and neo-classical styles. The neo-classical façade was inaugurated in 1756, following a project designed by Benedetto Alfieri, first architect of Charles Emmanuel III, duc of Savoy and King of Sardenia.
The columns are made in pink marble coming from the Chablais vaudois.

VERY nice contrast between shapes and patterns. I am enjoing your series very much. I also look the colors and the texture are so defined. A good picture.

J'aime beaucoup.

Hi Gal,
This is a very abstract way to show this amazing architecture. Well done!

Magnificent composition of details, Gal! :-) The light works finely in outlining them and the marble texture is really great. Perfect POV and sharp eye to capture it! Excellent job!

A very fine composition and a perfect cropping following the natural contours. Maybe could be a bit tighter on the right. A nice light, soft but hard enough to give shape to the columns.

The period of time in which this cathedral was built was transitional from the Romaneque to the Gothic, so considering it took so many generations of church leaders and craftsmen to build them, it is not unusual that styles became mixed. It wasn't as though they had detailed working drawings for these buildings, relying instead on a series of chief stonemasons to realize the bishop's vision. Your comments make me wonder if you might be an architect Gal.
I appreciate the juxtaposition of the massive round columns and the more linear facade, though the arch over all the windows provides a counterpoint to the curving columns. The staircase leading to the church also is a fine element of this composition. The colors are subtle and the geometry precise. You are a master at managing both. This is very fine Gal.

I could start telling all the good things of the picture the way I see it.
One word is enough: PERFECT.

Very fine and interesting composition - the round pillar at the right and squared windows at the left - very nice to watch indeed - thanks for sharing Gal

In the same kind, I find framing on this really powerful blow, likes the composition and the colors go well together.

Excellent travail Gal.
