Fairytale Castle Photo

Photographer’s Note

For me the Champvent Castle is one of the most photogenic castles in the canton of Vaud. Furthermore it’s easily accessible as it’s not far off the freeway between Lausanne and Yverdon. Being medieval (Savoy) and really well preserved, it’ really looks as though it’s just come out of a fairytale book.

By the way it was a beautiful warm, autumn day and I was happy to be able to use my polarizer again :-)

Pour moi, le château de Champvent est l’un des châteaux les plus photogéniques du Canton de Vaud. En plus, il est très accessible n’étant pas loin de l’autoroute reliant Lausanne et Yverdon. Comme le château est de l’époque médiévale (type savoyard) et qu’il est très bien conservé, il ressemble à ceux dans les comptes de fées.

Comme anécdote, c'était une journée très douce pour l'automne et j'était très heureuse de pouvoir reutiliser mon filtre polarisant :-)

Hi Nikki,
The warmth of the autumn day comes through in this fine shot, taken from a good low angle to emphasize the rolling fields and hill. I like the alternating hues here, with the castle standing guard as a timeless bastion in the countryside. The polarizer enhances. Very fine work, Nikki. My favourite type of rural scenery touched by a sense of history...Have a good week.

Yes these 'Indian Summer' days are lovely, we're having them too. Except we're not getting the lovely autumn colors that provide a base for the fairy tale castle and make your photo unique.

un très beau cadrage de ce château perché sur cette butte. J'aime beaucoup les couleurs d'automne qui l'entourent. Bravo pour l'utilisation du polarisant : c'est très réussi !

Colores preciosos que combinan muy bien y una perspectiva interesante del castillo rodeado por el ameno campo. Los colores del otoño quedan preciosos en esos árboles. Muy bella imagen.

trés beau paysage avec ce chateau en fond, je trouve a mon gout que le vert est trop saturé mais ce n'est qu'une question de gout, belles couleur d'automne qui apparaissent dans la foret , bravo pour le cadrage

Hi Nikki,
Great point of view with several layers of the field in the foreground, little forest coloured in autumnal tones and the castle on top of it. I like curves in this image, as they make your photo look so soft.

I just love castle photos! This is a wonderful composition Nikki. I like the way you included much of the field, and the nice clouds in the sky as part of the photo, giving the castle a nice fairytale place to live.

LOL j'aime bien la note c'est sur qu'a Motiers tu ne l'as pas beaucoup use ton pola, on peut voir ton desarroi dans le WS !!!
Le chateau et ta photo ils sont sympas aussi, j'aime bien cette progression sur les differentes couches de champs pour finir au chateau qui se dresse au dessus des arbres, et les couleurs d'automne sont tres belles maintenant.

Superbe comme tu as construit ta compo avec ce chateau, cette foret au couleur de l'automne, le ciel et le champ. Il y a une harmonie et tout va bien ensemble.
Ce qui est aussi très beau, on ne voit aucune construction moderne qui vienne perturber ce paysage.

Cadrage et couleurs sont magnifique. Très jolie vue avec cette couleur verte en premier plan. J'aime bien ces lignes qui se rejoignent du coté droit da la photo.

Waou elle est superbe cette vue, il est magnifique ce chateau et surtout ton POV mettant en évidence sa localisation et le fait qu'il soit entourer d'arbres aux couleurs automnales, plan large, permet d'apprécier également les courbes de ce champ sous ce beau ciel.
Une très belle photo, bien de saison, j'aime beaucoup :)

Je vois que tu es allé dans le même coin que Urs. Ton point de vue est très sympa ! Le fait d'avoir laissé beaucoup d'espace devant le chateau montre bien son isolement et le fait qu'il surplombe la région alentours !

Hello Nikki. A Swiss shot without mountains? Hardly necessary when you have such a photogenic chateau and beautiful colours, lovely curving contours and the effect of autumn. The building is perfectly positioned within the composition. It seems a very nice day for late October. Here, after a really hot patch, we've got snow falling on the 'alps' again and a cold southerly wind - typical.

Excellent shot, Nikki, I like how the changing colours in the field make a stepwise progression to the castle surrounded by the beautiful autumn trees. Very good light on the castle walls, makes the castle a true highlight ans underlines the compositional centre of the picture.

Me encanta de la foto que encuadras y compones la foto, el desplazamiento lateral del castillo es genial y además con el gran trozo de hierba aportas un toque de color ideal.
Además el contraste del verde y el azul cielo de la una luz fantastica.
