Is that a camera? Come on guys, stop pushing and smile for a moment! With any luck we might make it onto TrekEarth!
Really chaps, I don’t quite see what the hurry is to get down the mountain, though our boss is a bit impatient – that’s him behind us, with his dogs and whistle. Personally I like this cool, wet weather, it stops me from overheating in my woolly coat, though obviously our boss is keen to get us moving so he can get out of the rain. He has a gruff voice and yells at us to get a move on – as well as to any walkers en route, who have to get out of our way quickly if they don’t want to be stampeded over! Today it’s the annual Bergabzug - this marks the end of our summer season when we move back lower down the mountain for grazing on the lower pastures. Well, as long as the grass is green and tasty, I don’t mind where we go! Especially if we get the chance to appear on TE... Baaah! ;-)

Great Pic. The sheeps are very funny.congratulations! i loved it:)
frozenjazz (303) 2006-08-28 7:28
Excellent note !
And great photo too, it might be a "snapshot", but I personnally find it is well composed with the diagonal.
It was a good idea to frame it vertically, so it tells a story, with the dog and the people in the background.
And the attitude of these guys is great !

I guess the one with the mouth open added - they should have taken us down 4 weeks ago because we've been freezing here...
You've been braving it too - I stayed snug indoors.
Excellent POV and sharpness of the foreground and great bokeh behind. Funny note too.

A hilarious note (I almost fell off my chair, laughing) and a great woolly smile from this sheep in the foreground! It really does look as if it were posing for you...
Despite the fact that you had to react quite fast to capture such a moment, you've managed a very good compo with the colourful painting on the rock and the people and dog in the back that add depth to the photo.
Have a nice day.

Sheep willing to ask you some questions, I see...
and the touch of color or that signal is a perfect complement.

Baaah! A fun and charming encounter with the flock of sheep in the mountains, Susanna. Baaah! They seem to carefully be watching the trail markers painted on the stone. Baaah! And their spokesperson at the front is giving you a fun look and pose. Baaah! Nice DOF, a gentle shallowness towards the back where the folks and the dog are still well visible. Baaah! Nice vivid seasonal colors, too. Baaah!
I hope this critique will never be featured on the TE frontpage, LOL.

What an excellent capture!! I laughed out loud. :-) Great POV, starting with the charming narrator of your note, and leading us up the softly blurred hill to the people. Great note!!!!!!
PixelTerror (0) 2006-08-29 4:09

Nice composition with the diagonal by the way and the foreground to the funny guy.
donluicu (24724) 2006-08-29 5:55
ktanska (25076) 2006-08-29 6:43
Very funny one! Especially with the front sheep, head tilted and tongue in cheek. I also like the route marker.

I had a good laugh before I even read the note. Great stuff! Very creative. It's not just his smile and tongue that is funny but also the tilt of his head. It's a good job your camera was out and not tucked away in your bag.

oochappan (16957) 2006-08-30 1:50
Very nice moment Susanna, and obvious you were obstructing the way on thisvery small path but the sheep didn't mind to give you her best pose :)). Well framed wit the sheep in front, the short DOF leaving the back slightly OOF.
posfale (73) 2006-08-30 18:35

Very charming meeting along the path up the mountains. Good to see that the bunch follow the marked track up there. Nice crop and inclusion of the details from this wool gang.
cbrman (21645) 2006-08-31 7:15
capthaddock (28790) 2006-09-01 11:08
Hi Susanna - oh wow, that smiling expression is priceless, fantastic timing, that one really knows how to pose, the trail marker is also a nice touch, great note as well
devimeuxbe (58557) 2006-09-25 16:04
euryan (8438) 2006-10-07 23:05
This photo made me laugh out loud. So thanks you that. Also, the note is very clever. The face that front sheep is making is absolutely priceless. The composition, and all the other technical aspects of the photo are also very good. Great capture!
jassy (1065) 2006-10-08 16:25
This is too cute! It is almost as if the sheep posed for you and smiled when you said "Say cheese"! It is technically good as well, nicely composed. Well done.
