Photographer’s Note

This morning, on the "Bisse de Vercorin" hiking trail (1600 m of altitude). This "bisse" takes its origin close to the village of Vercorin and skirts the Valley of Réchy to "La Lé" (Vercorin is located at 1300m in the Valley of Anniviers). The "Bisse de Vercorin", built in 1358, collects water of the Rèche River for the watering of the meadows of Vercorin. "Bisses", many in Wallis, were born from the country will to escape from the consequences from the dryness. it was thus necessary to collect water on the course of the rivers and the torrents, artificially to deviate them on the slopes by the side of the slopes and to adapt the construction of these channels to the tormented relief and the nature of the sometimes rock ground, sometimes soft or friable. Of these bisses, the principal ones are still there. The paths which skirt them have the advantages of being gently inclined, to cross very varied sites, to provide views always surprising on the valley, the villages and the mountains, and from time to time, to get small emotions when they are on cliffs or penetrate in wild and deep throats. For these reasons these small ways, without motorized traffic, constitute very appreciated excursions and make it possible to discover one of the most picturesque aspects of Wallis.

J'adore l'opposition entre les droites des arbres et la très belle courbe formée par le bisse.
La composition est parfaite.
Un très beau piqué, aussi.
Le seul petit bémol a trait à la lumière un peu plate: un rayon de soleil sur ces aiguilles de pin aurait donné encore un autre éclat à la scène.
Mais je suis difficile, c'est déjà une superbe image comme cela ;o)

La photo est superbe surtout pour les 2 lignes formées par le bisse. D'ailleurs, ta note sur les Bisses, que je connaissais pas, est très intéressante. Ce ciel bleu en arrière plan ainsi que la neige fondante en avant plan représente aussi très bien la fin de l'hiver. Très bien, Isabelle!

A very informative and visually pleasing photo...informative by illustrating how water is valued enough to create this unique method of water collection, and pleasing because of the contrasting snowy entrance to the hidden shelter of the deep forest.Bien vu Isabelle:-)

Bisse ou piste de bob ? Jolie photo de ces canaux à eau. Celui-ci ne semble plus utilié ? La photo en plongée fait croire qu'il est passablement pentu. Impression ou réalité dans ce cas.?

"Bisse" un mot inconnu au Canada. Si je comprends bien c'est une sorte de canal formé par ces petits "murets" le long de la piste ? ce qui fait dévier l'eau et l'amène où les fermiers en ont besoin ? Très ingénieux comme système, mais je ne crois pas que cela survivrait les hivers d'ici.
Une image invitante, qui donne le goût de parcourir ces sentiers ombragés pour aller rejoindre la lumière tout là bas au fond.

Elle est très belle cette photo. Les couleurs sont très douces et j'aime bien la contraste del aneige blanche avec les couleurs sombres de la forêt

Très belle composition et une maitrise de la lumière parfaite car on distingue très bien le contour que fait le bisse dans la forêt.

At first glance I thought it was a toboggan track, you know the kind used for "Summer-rodel", but think it's in bad condition. After reading your note several times - it's sometimes hard for a Swede to read French transformed by Babel Fish into English, but great fun... ;o) - I understand that this is something unique, very old and used for serious purposes. Never heard of, never seen, so just that is worth a smiley.

The image is nice, showing it's smooth path through a rugged, almost primeval forrest. The winding gives depth to the picture and the lighting is good, from the snow up front into the deep, bewitched wood. (Although that's not true, as I see the blue sky between the trees). Well done, showing something so special and with such a good note!

Ah le bisse de Vercorin, magnifique ballade ou à cette période on n'est pas à l'abri d'une rencontre avec la faune sauvage. Ca t'es arrivé ?
En tout cas superbe capture, la lumière et le cadrge sont très bons !
Peut-être on se croisera une fois par là haut ;-)

I'll go ahead and join in with the accolades of the previous critiques. A fine way to use the curve made by the "bisses" to direct the view into the forest. A beautiful natural color setting, and fine contrast. Very nice shot, Isabelle, and I hope your hike yielded some more good pictures ;-)

Beaucoup de choses que j'aimerai dire sont dites dans les autres critiques. J'aime beaucoup cette force qui se degage de cette prise de vue. Cette invitation à monter dans ce train qui nous emmene vers nulle part. La peur, l'attirance, l'angoisse de l'inconnu, j'y vais, j'y vais pas!!!, aller je me lance.......

Nice deep perspective thanks to the curvature of the bisse.

We stayed a week in Kandersteg some years ago and walked the mountains. The last day we were tired of mountains and walked the "South Ramp"-path along the railway going down from Lötschbergtunnel into your valley. That path followed a lot of canals of this kind in all different materials. The nature shifted every kilometer and made it one of the top days of our trip. Thanks for the reminder Isabelle.

Photo vraiment tres interessante avec la neige qui s'arrete juste devant l'entree dans la foret. Ta note est egalement tres interessante.
Les couleurs et la lumiere sont bien captees.
