Photographer’s Note
As I have reach the 5 MB, you can see the large panorama on my web site.
The "Portes du Soleil" (Sun Doors) is the union of 14 ski place located between the France (Morzine, Avoriaz,... ) andthe Switzerland (Champéry, Morgins,... ).
I have try to make a 360° on the top of the Pointe de l'Au that reach 2152 m. I have spend a lot of time to be able to merge the 24 original picture. I have made several attempt before to have something that is satisfactory. Unfortunally, I had no tripod with me (it's not something that I take with me when I'm skiing). The picture has been taken with an external temperature of -15°C, was not very well in line. This is visible when you have a look on hte top of the Pointe de l'Au that is present on both side of the picture.
But I have take the risk to show you as it is now.

Too commercial. Could have been a great picture without the link to your advertizing and stuff.

The large version is spectacular, Jacques. One detail I particularly like are the low clouds between 180 and 270 degrees. The light you captured looks very "true to life" to what one would see when skiing at this altitude on a bright day. The annotations are very helpful to understand the scenery. Congratulations, and thanks for making the huge stitching effort you mentioned in your note.

A breathtaking composition and an impressive workload, Jacques. And a lot of patience put into one picture. I ask myself: "How do you do it?" - it seems impossible. To merge 24 original photos, taken without a tripod! I will never be that good (...or it will take a long time, as nothing is impossible)!
Thanks for sharing this spectacular image (especially the LP) and the very good note!
Perhaps you should contact the tourist office... ;o)

Pas de trépied mais vous n'avez pas pensé à utiliser un bâton de ski?
Ceci dit, même si ce n'est pas parfait, c'est impressionnant. Bien vu, Jacques!

Panoramic shots without a tripod are a real challenge, but you succeeded well! I like the way you used the two nearer heights to frame the distant peaks. Good work!

Chapeau ! comme on dit chez nous, 24 photos à 360°, c'est un bel exploit bien composé, malgré la grande difficulté et le temps passé pour effectuer ce travail.
