Photographer’s Note
After see you my first picture of Fribourg, I will show you Fribourg under the snow. The begining of the week was bad, it was snowing every day. But this Friday the sun come back. It is a unique occasion to take a picture of Fribourg with snow. There are not a lot of day in a year where it is possible.
You can see on the small picture the name of the main place of interrest. From the right, you have the Cathedral Saint-Nicolas (13-17th cen.), the town hall (16th cen.), this is the old part of the city. in the middle, you found the "finiculaire", in english you call it cable railway I think.
The Finiculaire of Fribourg is quite special. There is no electricity, no oil or other kind of combustible used to move them. It is simply the gravity. When the first car is up, it is fill up with the sewage. So it is heavyer than the second car that is down. So the first go down and the second, with the cable go up. When the first arrive down, it is emptied of the sewage. And the process can begin again.
The picture is composed of 13 photos taken at 13h00 today. They are covering about 200°. There is no individual correction of the picture. The left is the South-West.
As I have reach the 5 MB, you can see the large panorama on my web site.

Bien vu, Jacques!

The panorama is just great to watch Jacques. Took several "swings" to study the many details. The snow adds a fine effect for the total. Interesting to see such a "fresh" picture from yesterday. Well done ;-)

A remarkable panorama, Jacques. I can't imagine how you do it - there's a challenge for me. 13 pictures - so sharp - no noticeable stitching - nice colors - great DOF!
And a beautiful town - Fribourg. I can't recall having been there, but perhaps I'll go one day.
The finiculaire caught my eye, as I've had a photo with the "Worlds Shortest Railway", the Angel's Flight in Los Angeles. This one doesn't seem much longer, but the operation sounds unique. Sewage? Is that true? In my ears it sounds like "deposit water" (eaux d'égout)... Well - OK, I take your word for it ;o)
