Photographer’s Note

The Pearl of the lake is one of the many public parks of Geneva.
At the beginning of last century, which was going to become the Pearl of the Lake was only one waste ground located out of the doors of the city.
It was bought in 1825 per François Bartholoni who arranged it in a splendid park and made there build a luxurious private mansion finished in 1827.
The Company of the Nations, needing a ground for the construction of its new palate, acquired the Pearl of the lake in 1927.
But space available proving too restricted, it made gift of the three campaigns: Moynier, Pearl of the lake and Bartholoni at the town of Geneva which arranged it in public parks.
