From one casual dining location to the next, this time though in Switzerland. At the entrance to the Monte Rosa sits an extension of the hotels restaurant/bar, which as you can see, is a relaxing place to sit back and watch the activity along the Banhofstrasse.
As it was unseasonably hot this particular year, it was hard to find an open seat anywhere that offered a cold drink and a place to sit…so, I did the next best thing and decided to photograph the “action” instead, and opt for a bottle of water from a small market just down the road.
Even with all that there is to see and do around this small alpine village, one of the neatest things are the pedestrian friendly streets, void of many noisy and obtrusive automobiles. To prevent air pollution which could obscure the view of the Matterhorn, the entire town is a combustion-engine car-free zone.
Almost all vehicles in Zermatt are battery driven and almost completely silent. Electric vehicles are allowed for local commerces. The Cantonal police can issue a permit which allows residents to drive and park at the northern outskirts. Some emergency (fire trucks, ambulances, etc.) and municipal (buses, garbage trucks, etc.) vehicles are also allowed to use combustion engines.
Thanks for stopping by!

Il est 4 heures en quelque part sur la terre. C'est le moment d'en déguster une bonne froide en regardant le spectacle de la rue.Même le bébé semble vouloir en profiter.

Monte Rosa is the Italian name for the majestic Matterhorn, Jason, and the sign of the Cafe' tells about the location where taken.
Vibrant street view on summer's day, joli colors of tourists area.
Lovely, have a nice weekend,

hard to imagine Zermatt being hot, but I suppose it does happen and probably more than it does here in England. Mid June here and still having heating on at times! This is a wonderfully colourful and characterful street scene and portrays the atmosphere of the busy tourist season perfectly.
Have a great weekend - Brian.

Oh yes, how well I remember the record breaking summer of 2003. It was hot and dry all over Switzerland for weeks on end.
A pleasant street scene from Zermatt, not really and alpine village anymore but still worth a visit, with the Matterhorn and all the century old Grand Hotels.
have a good weekend

Nice daily life shot from the Swiss town. The roadside restaurant has been able to use the available space properly for their business.Fantastic sharpness and brightness. Great job, I love it. Have a nice day.

First I apologize for my long silence, busy with some work and traveling and wish to thank you for all your comments, I appreciate it very much.
I like your high angle viewpoint; excellent street snapshot in perfect light. The deep DPF is perfect and the table with cold beer inviting.
Superb image from "my" city.
Wish you a nice Sunday.

Glad to see your photos again! I am full of emotions after my trip. And this picture reminds me cozy streets of Corfu-town. Great choice of PoV, good vertical format and excellent quality for a scanned photo.
Have a great Sunday!
