I could not find a photo of the Rhine Falls in TE. This is why I post this one of this impressive waterfall which is, as far as I know not the highest but the one with more flow of water in Europe.
The rock in the center can be reached with a boat and it can be climbed up to the flag. The stream is so strong that I remember the boat's bow must to aim wide to the left and then let it be pulled by the stream to the goal.
Data:
Heigth of the fall 23 meter, 77 feet
Width of the fall 150 meter, 500 feet
Depth of the pool 13 meter, 43 feet
Age of the fall 14'000 to 17'000 years
Av. flow summer 600m3/sec, 22'200 cubic feet/sec
Av. flow winter 250m3/sec, 9'200 cubic feet/sec
Max. historic flow in 1965 was 1'250 m3/sec (45'500 cubic feet/sec). Remember that one cubic meter has a weight of one ton. |
