Photographer’s Note
This was NOT a day in December but just an “ordinary” fall morning in October when you normally would go hiking even at this altitude (a little over 2000 m). Of course I had planned taking out my hiking boots doing some workout on steep hills in the area before I became a coach potato for the rest of the winter :)))) Instead we had the first really heavy snow fall with everything involved that makes winter hard sometimes like the montage of chains trying to make the car move standing in the middle of the street, slipping and sliding around on icy roads. But, you know, one morning I saw some sunlight through the curtains … This picture was taken on Chaeserrug mountain, after we had taken the first cable ride of the day, totally alone floating to the top. No chance to do anything up there other than taking a coffee break in the restaurant waiting for the snow machines making some of the terrain accessible also without skis. Chaeserrug is a fairly good skiing area a little over an hour driving from Zuerich … not hard to imagine that it gets pretty crowded on Sundays during winter.

Guten Abend, Barbara!

Hi Barbara,
Excellent view ! Wish I could be there to feel the warmth :) But I feel little bit disappointed about the sky color. If it would have been few more attracting blue, the shot could be much better. Great Job !

Partha.

Hi Barbara
Well winter is arriving early for many parts of Europe. We are hoping for lots of snow in the mountains here too for the Olympics in Feb. This is a lovely well exposed shot with lots of detail in the FG through to the BG. The patterns made by the tires add focal interest.

Hi, Barbara!
It is wonderful snow shot during autumn. Only remark:
sky has too greyish shade. It would be better more blue.
Good luck.

Schönes WE,
Gruß,Leo

Hello Barbara,
Good composition using the vertical, although with that beautiful clear blue sky I think for me, I would rather have seen a panorama of the mountains with a little less of the foreground snow. We don't have any mountains here in Australia so any chance to see those beautiful rugged peaks is a bonus for me.
Couch potato, hmmmm I think not, well not with the wonderful winter images you've posted previously that would have been difficult for you to get from your window. :)))
Have a lovely day.
Regards
Peter

Hello Barbara
I really appreciate the view. With the patterns on the snow that drives our look to the mountains, this looks quite joyful and dynamic. And the untouched snow cover of the mountains behind, like a protected and peaceful domain, provides an interesting contrast. That's well framed, with beautiful hues. Bravo.

Hello, Barbara,
that is a spectacular shot. Beautiful light and shadow, perfect exposure, pin sharp detail and I love the curvy lines leading the eye in. Just incredibly well done! That is awesome. That D300 is in great hands! :)) Many thanks and kindest wishes,

Hi Barbara, long time no see, I hope you've been well! Maybe hibernating for the...Autumn...from the look of this beautiful photo. I really like the cool blue and white tones. The vertical works well and the texture of the snow and wonderful depth make this a top-notch photo. Thanks for sharing and have a lovely Sunday from Lisa.

Hi Barbara
I'm not yet in the snow mood but I really like your photo. Funny how man can transforme nature, unintentially making it graphic. The lines give so much depth too.

Hallo Barbara,

ha! you're back to the winter photos :) your style - verical, minimalistic - is immediately recognizable, and I like it a lot. the photo is great, especially with the tracks in the foreground leading the eye right into the snowy scene. strange to look at it, the weather has been crazy in NYC, on average +20C for the last few weeks, doesn't feel like November at all (not that I'm complaining, lol).
best,
Kristine

Grussi Barbara,
Good to see you posting again after such a long time. I know sometimes we are just so busy, like I'm now. I'm getting ready yet for another trip. This image is certainly prepared me for the COLD days I will have to endure of the next 2 weeks in Patagonia. I'm kind of dredding it already. I really don't like the cold, but I will face my demon. I'm strong and tough. LOL.
Great photo this one, I love the very details and texture of the snow on the foreground, the distant mountain is just so beautiful and that is all worth it for the cold. Beautiful this one. One when I have enough training, I will go to Switzerland in the winter too. Thanks

Hi Barbara,
Instant winter up there, or did it already melt away?
It all looks so fresh. I can imagine how busy those workers got, starting to prepare the slopes.
Maybe I could wish a more arranged pattern to the foreground but that was beyond your control.

Hallo liebe Barbara,

Hello Barbara
It's good to see a new post fro you after a very long time. The first snow is it? looks fresh and loose, with all the tyre tracks meandering across creating a good lead-in. The light is good, falling at an angle, which creates the shadows across the furrows indicating the depth and enhancing a 3D feeling about the shot. Beautiful work!
Best Regards

Hello Barbara,
for me that live in Sicily this is a very unusual mountainscape that you composed in a perfect way, with a perfect POV and a perfect vertical format... all is perfect!
The light and the sharpness are superb so as the textures on the white snow.
Warm hugs.

Liebe Barbara,
Liebe Grüße
